Forcing Higher Resolution

Thread Starter
Hey Everyone,

Awhile back I forced my old 1080p LG LCD monitor to display @ 2560 x 1440 using powerstrip (i believe its what i used). Worked great tested it with multiple games (mass effect 2, batman arkham asylum).

Anyway I did it by consulting a guide that I can no longer find.

I currently am using a Acer GD235hz 120hz monitor and am wondering if anyone knows how to do this because I just cant remember what I did and all my searches yield results saying its not possible on a LCD monitor, but it defiantly is...because I did it before.

I also have an Alienware m17x laptop that id like to try this on as well...info from anyone who has done this, or knows more about it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Ice

Just for the Info, forcing a higher rez wont display more pixels, it just squishes them down and scales them. It only hurts fps.

you might be able to do it with the nvidia control panel through trial and error by cutting the refresh rate or doubling it.

unlike crt, lcds just didnt seem to look right outside their native resolutions so i reverted back to native. image got too blurry.
