i5 2500k, Safe vcore 24/7

Hi guys!

I wonder what is the max safe vcore for a 24/7 usage, on the i5 2500k. Mine is at 1.32-33v for 4.7ghz, running 100% BOINC. Is it too much? What would be the max safe for a 100% load?

No, you're safe. Max vcore for a i5-2500k is 1.52. You are well beneath that specification.

Yes the max V-Core you can approach is around ~1.52 however the suggested V-Core max for 24/7 use to prevent electromigration if I remember is ~1.35V.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but I've never found any support for this idea.

Here's a forum post from Intel's support forum: http://communities.intel.com/message/133908

Notice that he says that 1.52 is running UNDER specifications, meaning that they anticipate that the chip can run even higher than 1.52.

first you are safe,
recommended is as mentioned 1.52V
under 1.5V would be ideal but people can an do run machines 24/7 a slightly higher than 1.52 IIRC at some posts smile.gif

Okay, thanks guys!

With some of my mod, I've been able to drop the temperature down to full load core 63-64C, I might try going for 4.8ghz.

I do not have money right now to get a better cooler (like NH-D14, or corsair H100), but I am sure I could hit 5ghz.

Thanks for all your replies smile.gif
