This ^^^ just about sums it up.

"Console sales are on the decline, with 7 year old consoles, so they must be dying!"

Not another one of these threads. Consolegames and PC games are serving the same consumers. They have way different games from IOS games and Facebook junk. They are different platforms, people will never play CoD or BF or GT or WOW on a tablet. Even if it has the best specs ever. People want to sit at home behind a big screen with either a controller or a mouse and keyboard and enjoy a deep game. Not some 0,79 dollar rubbish.

Hard to say... the majority of the older generation of gamers are becoming more busy in their lives with jobs and families and portable gaming is the fastest and most convenient means for them to get entertainment. I'm not saying that this will replace their experience with hardcore console/PC gaming but it somewhat becomes a practical and convenient substitute. The younger generation is also being exposed to these app-games on smartphones and tablets because they are more readily accessible, and at their younger ages they become indifferent to the more hardcore gaming devices, especially the PC because they are already satisfied with what they have. Who knows, maybe this could act as a gateway drug to hardcore gaming??? Lol.

I don't think consoles are dying but the fact that there are more substitutes out there (with more being developed) you can't deny that potential console/PC gamers are being turned towards these other forms of gaming. Being a hardcore gamer on consoles and PC, I think it's sad that less attention will be given towards the console/PC gaming market but I still believe that there are enough dedicated and talented developers out there who will still bring us quality products... Let's just hope they don't get drowned out by the casual **** games which are a product of our over-saturated market of cheap taste.
