Is the the air coming out of the exhaust fans hot?
Are any of the fans dead? It would be a good idea to lubricate them anyway to prevent it from happening.

You might try a test, flipping all fans to intake and take the rear fan and slot covers out like ehume did.
As far as modding the case, the first time I took a drill and jig saw to a case it was intimidating, but worth it!

The exhuast air is warm and the PSU is letting off hot air as it takes air from directly above the cpu through the PSU and out the back ... so the airflow is working ... 3x 17 cfm intake and 2x 17cfm exhaust ... ... I know that is very little ... but I never had a problem cooling components before ...

I started a thread regarding new cooling for the Northbridge ... but people are being a little less helpful there ... hahaha ... found 3 possible NB coolers but not sure which is good bad or will fit ... haha

I had northbridge heat issues too, plus the PSU was acting as an exhaust fan. Getting the air in and out of the case fixed it. If the air the northbridge is in is hot, it cannot get cool.

I would try getting the air coming out the back to cool down first. Experiment! My first try would be ehume's method I suggested above.

So here is a little feed back ...

I oiled up the fans and cleaned them ... etc ... and I mounted a 40mm into the Northbridge ...

Results -:

E5300 @ 3.3Ghz ... Idle = 34-39C ... Prime 95 = 63C ... ... I used Real Temp to monitor temps ... Is there something better ?? ... are those temps safe ?? ...

So long as temps are under 74.1 you're fine, and coretemp is a really good program

I have a strange question ... why are all the new intel stock coolers so dang thin ?? ... they look tiny compared to my old P4 630's stock cooler ...

Would I get better thermals switching the P4 630's cooler onto the E5300 ?? ... the HS is about twice as thick ...
