2500k 4.5 GHz 1.370v....

So I've managed to stop bluescreening at 1.370v no overvolting, but IntelBurnTest reports that my CPU is still unstable.

I know this must be a really crappy batch of the 2500ks, so do you guys think I should try to exchange it?
If you don't plan on going past 4.5, you could just try getting it stable around 1.4v, which is still in the safe zone. But if you want to go beyond that, you would probably need to exchange it

If I had an easy way to exchange it, I probably would

Beyond 4.5GHz, other than for bragging rights, I really don't see a 24/7 need. I would be happy with 4.5GHz personally smile.gif My chip sucks on the voltage as well. if the temps are good, throw it up to 1.43 and work your way down. see how that works.

just remember, watch the temps!

I'm so confused.

I was assuming that my BIOS voltages were correct, but then I looked at HWInfo32... apparently at full load, I'm running at 1.330 v, but at idle I'm running at 1.380v... it wasn't even set to 1.380. ************

if it is easy to replace your 2500k, have it replaced, for your peace of mind biggrin.gif

Can somebody explain why my voltages are so strange? Right when it automatically downclocks to 1600 MHz, the voltage jumps to 1.380v.

Sure.

i5 2500k @ 4.5 GHz
Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3
4 GB Mushkin Enhanced
HAF 912
CM Hyper 212 Plus
500 GB WD Blue

I went into the BIOS, changed the multiplier to 45x, and the voltages to 1.380.

I checked with Core Temp, and it reports I'm running at 1.380v at full load. Is this still good? Do you guys think I could push it to 5.0 GHz under 1.4 v?
