Hmm, I don't know what to tell you. It worked for me after I set compatibility mode and I even uninstalled and reinstalled everything to test.

Well I don't know what the exactly which one it is out of these but I have it as headphone out with +12dB. You'll need to restart your computer after applying it.

If it's not too much to ask can you please export the settings for me like I described in the first post?

I had the exact same issue as described in the OP.

(Running Windows 8 consumer preview x64. Installed Xonar Essence STX driver package for Win7 version 7.12.8.1794 using a variety of compatibility settings, including Win7 and Vista. Even though the driver package always installed correctly, I couldn't get the Audio center to launch and allow me to change the settings for the headphones.)

I was able to set up my headphones on the rear headphone jack by going into the registry and changing the values to match the values yashau posted above.

THANKS! thumb.gif

The newest UNi Xonar Drivers use the 1800 Drivers which seem to improve Windows 8 handling. Just try 'em here

I don't understand why you would bug Asus about something for an OS that's not even out yet. I also don't understand why people expect an OS preview to be fully functional and meet their current needs.

Somewhere in the comments they said that they had no problems whatsoever running the UNI Drivers on Win8. Just try them, shouldn't hurt anyone ;P

Before installing unixonar, driver signature enforcement should be disabled (here it is http://laslow.net/2012/03/14/disable-driver-signature-enforcement-in-windows-8-cp/).
