That is NOT how you make an area darker! You make an area darker by removing lights. Then that will create a use to actually have a flashlight or night vision scopes. Wow Dice did not think this through. Watch the video. Without that blue/gray tint, the game just looks better. That is not arguable! Just watch the video posted above. Please just do. Just do it. You can skim through it if you want.

After you watch the video, play the game. Then you know what I am talking about. The gray/blue tint masks over everything. Its just awful. Blandfield3 with that tint.

contrary to popular belief the lighting in this game is crappy: they mainly use static lights that either can't be destroy or leaves huge artifacts (such as a brightly lid wall with no light shining on it) and the blue filter.

Could that be why there is no self shadowing?

I played in the Alpha. Why do I not remember it being that way....

The whole "blue filter is crap" is old news and has been fought to death and back for the past few months.
You can use an FXAA injector and fix most of it.

Yeah I know, I was using it too. The problem is, you are putting a color filter on top of another color filter. Its just kind of dumb when Dice could just give us the option to not have the BSOD filter (thats what Ima call it from now on because it kills me to see such a beautiful game masked with a filter that makes the game look like a warbled mess).

Don't forget this

They made the game really immersive. (x6, x8 & x12)

3D scope
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kK-pIQ76HAU&feature=related [youtube.com]

A bunch of people whined and cried that that scope made the game look like medal of honor sniping, so they took it out.

I think it looked much better and hope they put it back in.

Oh dear goodness someone was onto something in the BF3 forums

EVERYONE! COMPLAIN ABOUT HOW BAD THE BLUE/GREY FILTER IS!!! They will remove it! We can at least try by badgering them biggrin.gif

I never knew the alpha didn't have that blue tint.

comparing those screenshots, the alpha looks much better imo

FXAA does help add more color, I always have it on but it lowers your fps a few frames and it doesn't allow you to use Afterburner OSD. They really should have a video option to remove the filter.
