Need help deciding on a mobo for a i7 2600k cpu

Hi, i am on my first build. I am starting with the intel i7 2600k. I can't decide on the mobo. It seems everyone here likes the asus p8z68 v-pro gen 3. But now I am seeing people recommend the asrock extreme3 gen3. Can anyone tell me the difference? As I said, this is my first build and im learning as i go. Money is not too much of an issue but i don't want things i dont need. I want something thats the best for the 2600k. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Both are good, not much of a difference, I think V-pro comes with built in bluetooth though.

If you care about that that is.

Also it comes with Mosfets.... hmm.

Asrock extreme gen 3 is good if you have a budget, other than that , I would recommend either Extreme 4 gen 4, or

just go with P8z68 pro,

Or if you have the money go with Asus z68 Maximus

Thanks a lot. i did see the maximus v-gene-z. and it did seem better but people said it was not as reliable as the asus v-pro. I will take another look at it . I am very new to all this and just decided to challenge myself and research all this but I have to admit, this is a lot more complicated than i thought, especially since i am so picky with buying the right stuff. I read something about the mobo having firewire capability along with usb. what does that do? If this is something elementary that I should know, someone feel free to let me know. Lol. Thanks.

What is your budget? If not, I would suggest the ASUS Maximus IV Extreme-Z.. but personally thats a bit too expensive IMO.

I love my motherboard smile.gif I bought it as soon as it came on the site (I bought it before newegg could even alert me!)

I think you should get the Asus but I'm bias.

I was thinking of spending $200 to $300 for the mobo. I just want something that will last long enough to where I am ready if something new comes along. And I definitely want something good and versatile.

I would go with the Asus board.

I love my mobo. Only had for a few weeks and it's doing a great job. ASUS or ASRock for sure are the boards to go get.
