Denon AVP 8000 Repair or scrap

Thread Starter
The other day I purchased a Denon AVP 8000 pre amplifer and a Denon POA 8300. The power amp was working great but the pre amp was not working; all I heard was a very small signal coming out from my monitors when connected. I was wondering if it would be worth it to repair this device or to scrap it (maybe give it away) and buy a new one. Keep in mind, the pre amp is not in the best condition, there is a dent on the left side and a few small scratches. Also, I will be repairing my self powered subwoofer in the near future so I would preferably want something with a sub out, that is, if I get rid of my pre amp. Any suggestion or ideas will be appreciated.

Never heard of the AVP 800 pre-amp, but if you mean 8000 then it's a valuable vintage model and is worth repairing.

oops, I just saw that typo. Would you happen to know how much the repairs would be?

AVP 8000 pre-amp used to retail for about $3,000 but it really depends what is damaged and what repairs are needed. Replacing parts might not guarantee the same performance.
