Here is some kepler rumors, could be true but nobody knows:

Yea 20% improvement at... Integrated Graphics.

Anyway's, here's my shot at it:

Case: NZXT Phantom 410 Red $100. $90 after MIR.

CPU: Intel i7 2600k $305 w/ promo code EMCNGJG39

Mobo: ASRock Extreme4 Gen3 $193 Shipped.

PSU: Seasonic X 650 $100 w/ promo code EMCNGJG93 (BUY THIS. BUY THIS. BUY THIS)

RAM: G.Skill Sniper 1866mhz 2x4GB $60

OS: Windows 7 $100

HDD: WD Cav Black 1TB $130 w/ promo EMCNGNB27 (Code expires today)

SSD: Crucial M4 128GB $165

CD/DVD: LG $18

Monitor: ASUS VE247H Black 23.6" $160 w/ promo EMCNGNB43, $150 after MIR. (Code expires today)

GPU: Sapphire 7970 $588 Shipped.

CPU Cooler: NH-D14 $81

Mouse: Razer DeathAdder $55

$2035 after MIR's.

I went with the 2600k cause you seem to be pretty set on it. Shave about a $100 w/ the 2500k if you wish.

You have options. Alot of them with that budget. Such as full WC loop, or.. especially a gorgeous IPS monitor: Yamasaki Catleap 27" 2560x1440 IPS $371

Basicly a $1000 monitor for sub $400 is what that is. I'm not sure how the new 7xxx series is at driving them though.

I was well under $2000 but then I realised I forgot an SSD. Def want one of those in a 2k system!

SO, Maybe 2500k and Extreme3 Gen3 board. There is $150 in savings right there.

Also. IF you are SURE you are building him a PC one way or another, buy the Seasonic X 650 now. Alot of people missed out at the X750 for $109. Don't miss out on the X650 for $100.

Incorrect, 20% CPU performance. 200% GPU performance increase. Which doesnt say much because the onboard GPU was/is terrible.
