I'm a little confused by your statement. Flat sections of track are the hardest to turn on. Had the roadway had any amount of embankment the turn would have been significantly easier on the car. If anything by doing these turns on a flat track they were showing the hardest possible turns to take.
NASCAR has the ends of the oval banked upwards for this very reason, It provides necessary centrpetal force to avoid skidding while moving on curved path/road.
The technical name for this that a transportation designer would use is called "Camber", I actually learned how to design with it in mind in something like Transportation 301 or something like that.
