1440p vs 3d 120hz?!

Thread Starter
Just went from a 6970 to a 580 and wanting to get a new screen. Using a 27 inch 1900x1200 atm but wanting to either go 2540x1440 or 120hz 3d 1080p, I can't decide tho, the bigger resolution is temping as I remember how amazing the jump from 1440x900 to 1900x1200 was. But at the same time I would really like to try 3d gaming, this is all for gaming only. Does anyone have any recommendations, please help me decide.

Thats honestly a choice that no one else can make for you - I'd personally take my 30" monitor over a 3D display any day, but more because it has practical use to me and everything looks absolutely gorgeous - but if 3D is your thing, then a 1440p display isn't going to replace that.

I wad this same decision to make a while a go. I chose the 30". its great, I love the picture quality ips gives me. The sheer amount of desktop space makes this computer a joy to use no matter what I'm doing.

I would get a 30" any day. 3d is nice and all but after a while, Ehh. Not worth the buckets of money spent.

1440 > 3d You'll get tired of 3d after a while but you can never get tired of the extra screen real estate and an IPS panel.

i say get the 120hz monitor for the smoothness in games. thats all i use my monitor for lol and i have uses the 3D and well it is cool the 120Hz part of the monitor just make it better and i went from 1920x1200 to 1920x1080 and its worth it for the smoothness alone but this is just one mans 2cents.gif

People rarely get 3D monitors for 3D.

120hz (if your vid card can hit 80+fps avg in games you play) is worth it.

The smoothness, is no comparison.

That's what I'm thinking about. I'm leaning toward the 120hz Benq but was interested to see if 1440p would be worth it.
