Am I being cruel to my HDD?

Granted it's a POS 5400rpm drive, but is it terrible to have music pulsing through it? My speakers (Boston Acoustics A70s) pump 75watts max, but I'm usually just using half of this. I CAN feel the vibrations while resting my hands on the laptop though.

Will this limit the HDD's life substantially? I would upgrade to a SSD so I didn't have to worry about this scenario, but I lack the funds. Hoping I win one of the SSD's in the Intel 520 Giveaway thumb.gif!

Yes,it will shorten the hard drives life in half.Would like it if some kept shaking you?

Not sure if serious... I love it when people shake me!

It will probably shorten it. I wouldn't worry about it though.

I would be more worried about whether or not they're magnetically shielded.
As for the vibrations, I've had my subs sitting next to my laptop since I got it three years ago and my externals sit on top of them, never had a problem with the drives.
As long as they're not strong enough to make the shock sensor park the read head you should be okay.
