Home Theatre In A Box - Page 2

you could go with a really simple approach and get a cheap receiver and two bookshelf speakers....that will have better sound than any crappy HTIB.

What I did in college is I ran my audio out of the tv and into my bose wave radio.....
I would pass on anything sony, rca, bose, jvc, samsung, or any brand not know for its good audio.

This will do vary well. Can't go wrong with Yamaha ether, they make some of the best amps money can buy.

Use flat wires and run them under the side boards on the floor. This setup will sound better then anything else for the price range, and will last long as well. This unit is also more flexible on the upgrade path. As you can use any speaker with the receiver, and the speakers it comes with are just standard speakers. The Sub is also active so can be uses on any receiver as well. Those cheap HTIB uses special speakers and most of the time uses passive subs. I would avoid those.

I can't do wires. I can for the speakers right next to the TV, but no wires across floor to the surround speakers.

$66 Wireless rear speaker kit.

$84 5.1 Channel Home Theater Satellite Speakers & Subwoofer

$150 Pioneer receiver

$300 not counting shipping and applicable taxes thumb.gif

Best part is that you'll have a decent receiver and you could upgrade components as you feel the need.
