Hi everyone, thanks a lot for your interest thumb.gif, it makes the entire build even MORE worthwhile. I have ordered almost all of the water cooling parts (except for the GPU block and backplate) and they are due to arrive soon. However there seems to be a problem somewhere with the order mad.gif, and I'm trying to find this problem as we speak. Also, in Switzerland I have holidays right now:) (I'm still in school, 10th Grade) and we are going to away to visit friends abroad. I will be back Wednesday next week, hopefully the parts have arrived by then.

I will keep you posted on any developments (given I have internet access in the apartment:D). Cheers

Okay everyone, good news: My parts are due to arrive tomorrow smile.gif (so everything besides the GPU block, backplate and sleeving). Then I can get modding to fit the parts and especially get the 480 rad in the top of the case. thumb.gif

Shipment 3:
Hello Forum,
The bulk of my watercooling parts have arrived and I now have everything smile.gif I need besides the GPU block, GPU backplate (which I might create myself) and the sleeving materials. If you DO NOT like pictures, don't continue reading (or viewing) but I think pictures say a thousand words and really show what I am doing. biggrin.gif So let's jump straight into it:

Shot(s) of the Day:
450
450
Overview (Click to show)
Overview:
The box, it's so large (lol) thumb.gif
450

and here is all the stuff in the box:
from left to right: tubing (white & transparent), LED strips (2 x Purple, 1 x White), Phobya Balancer 150 Gold Plated, Mayhems X1 (1 x Pink, 1 x Purple, 1 x Clear), Akansa TIM cleaner, MX-4, XSPC RX480, Phobya 480 Bricky Radiator Grill, Loads of Golden Fittings.
450
Radiator and Radiator-Grill (Click to show)
Radiator and Grill:
Now to the heart of this shipment, the radiator. It did come in a very simple box, no need to show you guys a picture, and then the rad is in bubble wrap (again, no need for a picture). Accessories are limited to:
450
16 x long screws (30mm long) and 4 x short screws (the short ones are 6mm long); they are all M3 standard.

Warning notice which might be good to pass along:
450

Its full glory of 4 x 120mm radiator space. Pooooowwwwaaaaa is all I can say. Talking of quality it is simply amazing. It is not THAT heavy but feels solid, sadly a couple of the fins are slightly bent but nothing major. Now just imagine this sexy beast with some golden compression fittings biggrin.gifthumb.gif
700

Now might be a good time to show the (cheap) radiator grill from Phobya.
700

I also made a quick set-up of the radiator, the four AP15s and the rad grill (which will be what one will see at the top of the case, more or less). It is AMAZINGLY looking.
450

and a close up:
450
Fittings (Click to show)

Fittings:

10 x Straight angle compression fittings in gold (Phobya brand I think):
450

6 x 90° Compression Fittings (again in gold and from Phobya):
450

6 x 45° G1/4" adapters, I don't know what the actual name for them is but I'm sure you get the point. Again in gold and from Phobya:
450

Last but not least a whole lot of G1/4" caps. And you guessed it in gold from Phobya:
450

You guys wanna see them all together, well okay rolleyes.gifbiggrin.gif :
450
Golden Reservoir (Click to show)
Phobya Balancer 150 (meaning it holds 150ml) Gold Plated:
A small but elegant reservoir in a crappy (Phobya-style box):
450

Inside the box:
mounting material, silver caps (3 x) and loads of padding:
450

The reservoir itself, slightly shiny, not quite as shiny as the CPU block but still pretty sharp:
700
Tubing (Click to show)
PrimoChill Tubing:
4m of White and 4m of Clear Tubing. Both 1/2" ID (inner diameter):
450

Close up:
450
Mayhems X1 Coolant (Click to show)
Mayhems X1 Coolant:
Three bottles, all in zip-lock bags (from left to right: pink, purple and clear):
450

Some leakage happened, which is exactly why the bottles are in plastic bags:
450

attention to detail by Mayhems, even the rubber bands which held the filling tubes are the same colour as the coolant:
450

The coolant itself (in pretty little glasses):
450
Miscellaneous (Click to show)
Akansa TIM cleaner and Artic MX-4 TIM:
nuff said:
450

Phobya 60cm LED strips:
2 x UV Purple and 1 x White LED strips (again I fail to ignore the not so good-looking packaging, Phobya has a nice logo but their packaging isn't up there in elegance):
450

So yeah, now that I have almost everything I need for my build I can get modding. Stay tuned for more. thumb.gif

Moddin' 4 life,
Cheers

Modding Begins thumb.gif
So now that I have all the parts which I need to install the radiator in the top of the case, here is what I did:

Shot of the Day:
450

Preparing the case: (Click to show)
Marking the cuts:
So before I was able to make any decisions, I had to place the radiator inside to check the clearance of the fittings (which will be located in the back of the case). I then also marked the sides and spacing I need (8mm on the sides, 13mm on the ends) and the 45° corners.
700

Then one always has to add loads of masking tape to try to avoid any metal stand-offs and rough edges. I also placed the radiator on top so you can see how it will look:
700

Workspace:
The workspace is always important and I recommend highly to not do it in a living room or anything like that, preferably actually outside. You will need a drill and jiggsaw as well as any other helpful tools (screwdrivers, knifes etc.) Using a vacuum cleaner highly reduces the amount of dust so I also advise that.
NOTE: you should always wear hearing protection (depending on your jiggsaw) and eye protection.
700
Cutting, drilling, filing and sanding (Click to show)
No need to say a whole lot here, but you have to be really careful when you cut, that you follow the lines you drew and you take care of your fingers. Some pictures for you to look at:
700

700

Lookin' pretty clean if you ask me:
700

Then you have to drill the holes for the radiator grills, just place the grill on top and then mark the holes. I used a 3mm drill bit for my M3 bolts.
700

After you have your holes drilled, start sanding and filing the edges. Feel free to use any combination you like, I used both:
700

Peeling off the tape you can still see the marks by pencil, so just get rid of those with an eraser. Filing should continue in this stage, because you want to slightly round the edges. Also make sure you get rid of any rough edges created by the holes.
700
Installation of grill (Click to show)
Installation:
Just use whatever bolts and nuts you have to fix the grill at the four courners. As you'll see the grill bends upwards in the middle, and I was worried about this but you'll see afterwards that with a radiator and fans the problem solves itself.
450

Close up:
700
Installation of radiator and fans (Click to show)
Installation of radiator and fans:
Here just a quick shot of everything installed. In my opinion a VERY clean looking mod, very simple yet elegant.
450

The spacing inside the case is quite well and I still have sufficient space for all my cables. I also just put two gold fittings on the radiator for the fun of it biggrin.gif . (sorry for the crappy picture)
450

Glory Shots:
700
450
450

So that's pretty much it for this mod, I'm only waiting for my GPU block now and then we can get building. I might get some more sample shots done and begin to mix my actual coolant (and figure out the ratios). Thanks for sticking along.

Cheers,
Dave

thanks man. thumb.gif Believe it or not, i was really considering the Aurora series. only problem is that it is not meant for the long term and the performance is a few degrees above the X1 coolant. Also it clots the blocks quicker than the X1 (I was actually in touch with Mick from mayhems and he helped me out a little) I might get the Aurora for a showcase or something but not for every-day use. I hope the gold will look as good as it seems now smile.gif I really wanna get my hands on a Gigabyte Z68 UD7 or Asrock Extreme 7 (gold theme)... smile.gif
