Best Case Fans

Thread Starter
I am using the 550D case, and it seems like the fans that come with it dont really do much. I don't feel much airflow going through the case. Any recommendations on decent priced good performing fans to replace them?

Scythe Slipstream or Yate Loons (forgot the model number) are good and very cheap.
And i keep hearing good things about the Enermax T.B. Apollish and Bitfenix Spectre fans.

Usually for case fans you want to look for silent fans, or fans that are silent and have as much CFM as possible.

You don't want to care about air pressure, that is for heatsinks or radiators.

So.. high CFM = case fan
high air pressure = heatsink/radiator

If your case supports 140mm fans or bigger, look for them. The bigger the more air they can push with less noise.

I've noticed that my 7970s idle hot when running a single 1920x1080 display. With the fan at auto (20%), its easily hitting 50C. I don't think it should be going that high. The 2nd turns off when not being used, so its not a problem. I am using the 550D. It has 2 120s in the front, either 120 or 140 in the back, and 2 120s or 140s on the side. I am currently not using the back, but ideally, I would like to connect 2 fans to the side panel, 2 in the front, and 1 in the back that moves a ton of air, and connect them to a fan controller. The fan controller has to be flat enough the front door can close though. Hopefully, this allows it to idle a lot cooler.

"ton of air"
do you mind noise? if you dont care then get some high speed deltas and your case will move so much air that not even your room will handle it!

my thought was that when idle, I prefer it to be fairly silent, but when gaming, i can turn up the case fans a bit. I put my head next to the rear exhaust fan and I can hardly tell any air is being pushed out. The Corsair fans are not great in my experience.

oh okay, thats not acceptable, you should take a look at the TY-140´s or Prolimatech Red Vortex. Till today the best fans i ever bought due to the performance & noise issue
