I played some old games like Crash Bandicoot and Toy Story on my Playstation with my nephew a few days ago, and I remembered how much fun consoles can be, I've neglected them for so long, just out of pure ignorance.
My only concern is, I'm short on money, and I have no big TV, so all I have is my 24" monitor (which is HDCP compatible) on my table, and here in Europe, a PS3 costs around 225€ new, plus I'd want 1-2 games and another controller probably, all that add up to around 300€, which is kind of a lot for me at the moment. Obviously you can't decide for me what's worth it and what's not, but at least you throw a guess, if a PS3 is still worth the money? Haven't games already squeezed everything out of their hardware, maybe there's a PS4 coming down the line soon?
I'd rather not waste 300€ for a PS now when there is a new one coming in like 2 years.
What do you guys think?
Also on a side note, my monitor only has DVI, and no speakers, is there a way to connect the audio parallel to video?
The new slim only allows for HD resolution with the HDMI port, but I'm unsure whether the other ports for audio will be active, or if there even are other ports for that, I'd need to connect it analogically preferably.
