Up to you, but if money is tight as you say it is - then I wouldn't bother.
Well, I personally wouldn't bother even if I did have money to spend, lol. But it's your money and your decision.

thumb.gif I bought one, enjoyed GT5 for a few weeks, then It never got used - so I sold it

This. Also OP, not sure where exactly you live, but over here in Belgium a PS3 slim is €250 and not €300 and I can't really imagine there being a €50 price difference between 2 EU states.

Prices have dropped again. You can buy a brand new PS3 160GB SLIM for 220-230 euros.

If someone plays a PS3 for a couple weeks and then puts it down, that person just isn't a gamer anymore and there's no shame in that. I grew out of it because I had a relationship and school. Now that we broke up, I started enjoying games a lot more.
Red Dead Redemption
Demon's Souls
Dark Souls
Dead Space 1/2
God of War
Even Call of Duty feels more like a game when I play it on PS3. Gaming on a PC just feels tiring on my eyes and not as relaxed, sitting on the couch with a controller offers a kind of "end of the day release" for me. Especially with a bottle of Shock Top and some cute girl I meet in class sitting next to me telling me what I should try. Can't do that with a PC.
If you like fighting games, it's no contest. Ultimate MVC3, Super SF4, Tekken series.
New age beat em ups like Dynasty Warriors
If you liked Crash Bandicoot, you'll LOVE Ratchet & Clank.
Uncharted series

And ironically for being a system that came out in 2006, graphics still look amazing because developers only have one set of hardware to work with. They just have to make the FPS hit that sweet spot at all times and they can tweak the shading and textures to make use of it.

In essence, the Xbox 360 has a GPU similar to the X800XT and the PS3 has a GPU similar to the 7800GT or GTX. Good luck getting the graphics the PS3 puts on Oblivion, Skyrim or MW3 with those cards lol.

between the drunken rock band parties (all the instruments and close to a 1000 songs biggrin.gif ) and the multimedia features, the ps3 is a great little entertainment system. we use it to play movies (dvd/br), and since it it is on my network with my nas (dlna), i can also stream all my music, movies, etc to it. at $8 a month netflix streaming is another fairly cheap form of entertainment that you can use the ps3 for

and while it isnt as cool as kinect, the ps3 move system is still alot of fun. socom is a pretty good time and once the beer starts flowing we often end up playing a round of golf or the sports games that came with the move package

as long as you exploit all of the capabilities of the ps3 it is definitely worth the asking price. pick one up used and you are golden

It's worth it for exclusives, other than that it's a great Netflix/BluRay player.

Brother got the family a PS3 for Xmas back in 2010. I immediately bought a couple games. FF13, Uncharted 3, and Valkryia Chronicles. I was looking forward to FF13 the most. Put in a good number of hours on it (about ~100 hours). Ive already beaten the game and now its just finishing up the achievements. That was back in Aug/Sept of last year. Before that I didnt even touch the game for 7 months.

Barely put in 2-3 hours of Uncharted and 1-2 hours on Valkyria Chronicles since I got the game late 2010 early 2011. I dont think Ive played Uncharted in more than a year. About a month ago, I played a little bit of VC which was the first time since Jan 2011.

I dont know what it is. I guess having a PC and Ps3, I prefer the PC, but its not because of gaming. Its just im on the PC all the time.

Ps3 has probably seen more hours on Netflix than gaming though haha.

I think trading games should be something we should all look into. Seems like most of us play a game for so and so and finally become bored of it. Trade it for something that interests you.

Tough part may be trying to find someone to trade with. Been trying to trade mlb the show 11, but thats probably too late now.
