Need some solid advice on PSU for a 5970 (Quite urgent)

Thread Starter
Hey guys.

Busy building a special little Htpc/Lan Rig.

Specs: i5 2500K (Not overclocked)
Msi z68a GD65 Gen 3
2x4GB G skill snipers
Sapphire 5970 4GB
1x 1TB seagate Sata 6G hdd
1x 22x dvd writer
1x 140mm sharkfan

So what I need to know..Will a Coolermaster m600w silent pro gold be good enough to run that setup?

I know there are a couple of psu wizards on here so any advice would be appreciated.

I would think so.

I run my entire rig with my 650w. Mine is only Bronze rated. I also have 7 Fans, plus the two on my 212+.

I used to run my AMD setup with this too. So there was more Voltage to the CPU, ram and I had 2 5770's OC'd to 1000/1400. But you can always look at something larger if you are going to expand in the future.

Also, do you have the m600 Bronze or the Silent Pro Gold?

I'm not sure but I think yes, your 600W should run your system just fine BUT the psu load would be at 90-100%. why not test and see.

You can always try it out, it should work.

If you really don't feel comfortable or you will start to OC, sell the 600w and grab a 750w.

What are you guys talking about? It's way enough, not even close, unless the CPU is somehow not overclocked while the 5970 is being volt modded and run on LN2. The whole system other than the graphics card is close to 100W full load. That's like 500W to run a dual GPU graphics card.

Well Kitguru ran the CM Silent Pro Gold 600W to 722.1W before it shut itself off, not that I would recommend actually running it past 600W (which clearly won't happen here).
