At least it was supposed to be the top end model, and not some last minute replacement . Paying 500$ for this chip isnt worth. At least for me.

Sorry but... proof.gif?

I'd like to know your insider information to know that they didn't have issues and released a lower end card as flagship. Companies do things like this all the time, make last minute adjustments, or release a lower end part at a higher price range because of how it performs. NVIDIA and AMD probably have always done this, the only difference is we know about it for kepler.

I'm just saying, the fact this card was intended for midrange and is now the flagship means nothing. Performance is ALL that matters when it comes to pricing, if the card beats the 7970.. it's price tag is justified.

This post really isn't aimed just at you.. I'm just tired of all this midrange/highend debating. Who cares what the card was intended for.. It doesn't matter for us consumers, only price and performance does.

So this x2.

All that's going to matter is the benches in gaming vs the competition and if the price tag justifies the purchase at the end of the day.

If it does compete and at a lower watt requirement you might have some people previously boxed out with lower PSU's able to crossfire option with big perfomance.

Imagine we should see something by Saturday. smile.gif

But DO they perform better? The card is ~30% faster than a GTX 580 with a ~30% higher clock speed. That would seem to indicate that the cores and architecture itself has offered no real improvement of any kind.

With a ~40% SMALLER die, and 256 bit bus....

GTX580 = 520mm2
GTX680 = 320mm2 ( if rumors are true )

If this comes out at around 500, people who bought the 7970 would be screwed over. But......

What if GK110 comes at around 500 in august. .......

I can see it at the 5-600 mark. Can't see the GK110 coming out in August. I think a lot of it comes down to what Nvidia decides to run with as a name - GTX670 (Ti?) or GTX680. If the top card released in the next few days (presumably) is named GTX670, then we might be in with a chance. If it isn't....

Hahahah, take a look at the x-axis, they start at .8 "units", which we must infer is a normalized percentage. Basically they are only showing us the end of the graph to make the difference in performance visually seem much larger than it actually is. I love this kind of thing, anyone with a half a brain sees exactly what they are doing.
