new fx55 build, air cooled overclocking experiment

Ok, wasnt sure exactly where to put this but i think this will suffice.

I recently ordered one of the FX-55 San Diego's for $140 from newegg. I honestly don't know why I did it. I don't have that much money but I just felt like it for some reason. So here's what I'm going to get along with it.

I ordered this motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813127221

and I'm going to use my Patriot DDR 600 2x512mb memory for overclocking.
I'm just going to hook up an 80 gig Hard drive i have lying around and a psu.

Now, what i'm going to try is hook up my Thermaltake Tower 112, the all copper one that wouldn't fit on my other motherboard.

What I'm hoping to do is to put a fan leading into a duct in my window, then duct the air into the front of my PC and through the heatsink and then out the back. I'm just using an old crappy case i've had for years that is stripped of all the plastic on the outside. Now, as long as the temperature is not below ambient i shouldn't get condensation? maybe i'm wrong i don't really know.

What kind of overclocks can i get with it? Is 3ghz a possibility with the san diego core FX-55's? Any tips on overclocking it?

well with a good HSF like the Tt BT 3 ghz is possible with the fx-55 although I don't think that idea would work. But its your computer so go ahead and try it.

3Ghz is quite common. Since the multi is unlocked, just move the multi up its pretty easy too. Just raise FSB until your RAM is no longer stable, or your HTT, whichever comes first. Raise the multi until the processor becomes unstable. Work from that.

Well i'm doing it because it's gonna be getting cool here at night's especially. Now, i don't plan on running this all year long i figured with colder air it'd help it out.

Well I guess it'd be worth a shot, and if it works then great. with a fx-55 you can achieve great overclocks and you have ddr600 ram so you should get superb overclocks.

If it's lower than your room temp (which is will be) then condensation will probably be a worry. Plus the fact that outside air is usually VERY humid.)

That Fx-55 is begging for sub-zero temperatures. Nice buy!

Isn't there some kind of filter he can put inside the duct? I remember a while ago someone linked me to 80mm fan filters; could something similar be used to catch dust and some humidity?

I plan on keeping my window open, i hate hot weather and sweat all the time so I wouldnt mind it being 50 something at night when i'm sleeping. My roommate and I don't turn on the heat.
