Forgive me if this is the wrong place to post this, but it is PS3 related, so...
Well, here's what's up;
Got a Benq E2220HD (1920x1080) monitor with two HDMI ports, one DVI and one VGA.
Used one HDMI port for my PS3.
PS3 looks and plays fine at 1080p on games.
Yesterday, picked up a Blu-Ray boxset, Planet Earth (BBC). Yay for wildlife!
I've never played a Blu-Ray disc in my house at all, so didn't really know what to expect. The PS3 is the only hardware in my house that plays Blu-Ray.
Anyway, I inserted the first disc into my PS3 Slim. It started up fine, and looks fine on most parts, but during fast moving scenes, I can notice some 'stuttering' (like frame skipping). Also, on some parts, there is some sort of grain or something. It's like the old analogue cables, when not attached properly and had to fiddle the cable to get it clean. Called, 'noise', I think. Sometimes, the grain is 'pulsating' then just disappears.
I've got a 50" HDTV downstairs and haven't bothered checking there yet (mainly cos moving the PS3 is too much hassle atm). I could buy a Blu-Ray drive for my computer if it's any better than the PS3 's current quality. I'm planning on buying a standalone Blu-Ray player for downstairs soon too.
Can you tell me what I'm experiencing and can it be 'fixed'? I heard most BD come with the grain effect intentionally. But trust me, I don't think this was...

About the grain, it only seems to appear at some shots. Sometimes more on some than others. I read the disc I'm running isn't all in HD, so there are some SD shots, could that be why grain exist on some shots and not other? (Like, maybe it's only affecting HD scenes, or only SD scenes.)
Anyone suggest another BD that is not supposed to have grain so I can test?
