Yup.
It looks like Kepler is going to completely PWN this next generation of cards.
That's good for us though because it'll force AMD to lower prices to compete which in turn will put pressure on Nvidia to lower prices as well.

Based on OCN's graphics card rankings, GF110 (GTX 580) is ~35% better than GF114 (GTX 560 Ti). If (and a big if) GK110 follows that trend and is 35% better than GK104, GK110 will be ~55% better than Tahiti XT based on this rumour/review showing GK104 is ~15% better than Tahiti XT.

So Tenerife needs to be 55% better than HD 7970 to match GK110. Again, this is using past trends and the numbers are in no way for certain.

Fat chance of that happening. More than likely, AMD will be playing catch-up for the majority of the year if/when GK110 is released.

And where's Tenefire? It's also vaporware ATM. Yet no one is attacking that ad posted as a fake though it to cannot be confirmed? Double standard. Or should I have responded 'meh, Nvidia has already been doing it'?

So should I respond 'l'll believe it when I see it'? I remember that news but that got moved from 'hardware news' section to 'rumors and unconfirmed' by the mods.

To be honest, good for them if AMD finally came to the table with thier own version of CUDA. Seems both AMD and Nvidia are taking some notes from each other. See how having competition makes it better for the consumer. Who wants a monopoly like AMD has had for he last three months? We seen what happens by the steep pricing as proof.

GK110 will have 44% more shader ( rumoured ) and because you never get perfect scaling with shader count you could argue that it'll be around 30-35% faster then GK104 at the same clock speed. Factor in the average 15% that GK104 is faster then a 7970 and you have a card that could on average be 50% faster then a 7970.

So say that this 1.2x 7970 compute performance actually meens 1.2x the shader count they you'll have a card with roughly 2450 shader cores giving it ~15% more performance then a 7970. factor in a possible factory clock of 1.1Ghz which would give you a 15% more performance over a 925mhz 7970.

15% more shader power + 15% higher clock = 30% increase over a 7970

GK110 50% - 30% = 20% faster then the card in the slide.

So according to your post, the next 'great' AMD tenerife flagship's projected performance would put it roughly equal to Mid-range GK104 Kepler in gaming? biggrin.gif

One does not simply apply skepticism regarding positive AMD rumours.
