So Tenerife needs to be 55% better than HD 7970 to match GK110. Again, this is using past trends and the numbers are in no way for certain.
GK110 will have 44% more shader ( rumoured ) and because you never get perfect scaling with shader count you could argue that it'll be around 30-35% faster then GK104 at the same clock speed. Factor in the average 15% that GK104 is faster then a 7970 and you have a card that could on average be 50% faster then a 7970.
So say that this 1.2x 7970 compute performance actually meens 1.2x the shader count they you'll have a card with roughly 2450 shader cores giving it ~15% more performance then a 7970. factor in a possible factory clock of 1.1Ghz which would give you a 15% more performance over a 925mhz 7970.
15% more shader power + 15% higher clock = 30% increase over a 7970
GK110 50% - 30% = 20% faster then the card in the slide.
