[The Verge] The Browser You Love To Hate

Microsoft isn't afraid of mocking its old products anymore and today's "the browser you loved to hate" campaign is the latest example. The software maker has created a Tumblr site to mark what it describes as a "comeback" for Internet Explorer 9. The site includes tweets, quotes, and comments from around the web praising Internet Explorer 9, the company's latest web browser.

I'll continue using Chrome or FF for as long as I can.
If people like the Internet Exploder, good for them.
Thats not gonna get me to change. Besides everyone knows you dont uninstall programs by dragging it to the recycling bin rolleyes.gif

I loved the commercial. About time Microsoft owned up to forcing one of the worsts browsers down people's throats.

With that said, I love Firefox and there is no reason for me to change. It might make me rethink insta-uninstalling IE every time I install Windows though.

Its ok in certain circumstances....but for me Chrome is the way to go till shown better! thumb.gif

Regardless of past lapses of judgement when it came to IE, MS has more or less brought its browser up to speed with the alternatives.

That being said, I hate how the Chrome browser forces all actions to be completed within the browser as opposed to the traditional system dialog. Like how if you want to open a downloaded file or print a file, it's through the chrome tab by default. Yes, you can click on the "use system dialog" button once you initiate the action, but it's a pain in the butt and entirely unnecessary (not to mention the vast lack of options within the default chrome dialog, such as printer setup and whatnot). But I understand--they want to box the user up within the browser, and get them accustomed to the chrome interface and less accustomed to the traditional windows interface, so that way when Google's OS goes viral, people will have been somewhat brainwashed already.

Also, the common touting of Chrome being less of a memory hog than FF is much more overrated and overstated--they're both memory hogs.
