Hey guys,

I'm sort of a newbie regarding RAM and how to tell which RAM I need and stuff. I downloaded Speccy so I could see which type of RAM I'm using and I got these results:

Probably most of that stuff is innecessary information but I just wanna make sure. I want to buy one of these from Newegg but I'm really unsure which would be the best bang for my buck.
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB
Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 8GB
G.SKILL Sniper Series 8GB
G.SKILL 8GB

Please help me outt, Thanks!

Edit: Found this one too, G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB

DDR3 1066 CL7 1.5v

If you wanted to up the speed check your motherboard to see what it supports. Don't wannt pay for faster RAM just to have a motherboard that'll downclock it. Since you don't know what's in it I'm assuming it's an OEM?

The first link looks good, bout the same specs as what you have. But double the amount.

The second link is 1600Mhz, and CL9. Which would be a nice upgrade

Third link is 2133Mhz, which I don't think you'll need, and the board may not even support it.

Fourth link is Laptop Memory, not what you're looking for.

You're currently using 2x 2 GB. 1066 MHz. DDR3 SODIMM RAM.

If this is a laptop then the fourth RAM Kit listed is a SODIMM and perhaps the only one correct for your use???

What exactly are you working with for a PC???

I'm not sure how to check my Motherboard's maximum capacity other than posting what Speccy shows:
Motherboard
Quote:
Manufacturer TOSHIBA
Model NWQAE (Socket M2/S1G1)
Version PSAX3U-002004
Chipset Vendor AMD
Chipset Model 785GX
Chipset Revision 00
Southbridge Vendor AMD
Southbridge Model SB850
Southbridge Revision 40
BIOS
Brand TOSHIBA
Version 1.00
Date 05/15/2010
PCI Data
Slot UNKNOWN
Slot Type UNKNOWN
Slot Usage Available
Bus Width 32 bit
Slot Designation Realtek
Slot Number 0

I don't want to overclock this laptop, just awnt to increase the RAM capacity because I feel that at 4gb it can't handle my games/multitasking as much as I would like it to.

Lol I just realized all of them were desktop memory and I need a special RAM for laptop.. sorry about that haha.
Is there any recommended Laptop memory that I should look to buy though?

You'll need to find out what the mobo/BIOS supports to determine if it can use option #4 SODIMMs. The other RAM is not correct for your laptop.

Are you running 32 bit or 64 bit windows? can you provide your laptop brand and model number?

Yeah it's 64-bit windows

And it's a Toshiba Satellite A665D-S6059.
yea, it supports up to 8g of ddr3 10600

its a pretty easy install, normally just a screw or two, pop out the old, put in the new, boot up!

Any of these. But your CPU will only support 1066MHz RAM, the mobo supports 2x4GB sticks(max). So getting 1333Mhz RAM will still work, but it will run at 1066Mhz.
The lower CL (Cas Latency) the better. but in reality, you wont NOTICE much difference from CL7 and CL9

Thank guys,

In the filter where it says speed it says DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600). I think I'm mistaken but I thought that 10600 meant 1066 MHz? Correct me if I'm wrong pleaase, I just want to fully understand this area. So even if my motherboard supports 10600, it supports only up to 1066 MHz so even if I buy a 1333 it will run as a 1066?
