[ TT ] More GTX 680 benchmark graphs surface, card looks great - Page 3

So is it safe to say that 680=590 in terms of graphics?

NVIDIA has reclaimed their crown – they have the fastest single-GPU card. The GTX 480 is between 10 and 15% faster than the Radeon 5870 depending on the resolution, giving it a comfortable lead over AMD’s best single-GPU card.

Thats OK I did the same thing, said 30% the other day and Gruion called me on it.
The point is if the 680 only has 256 bit bus and the 7970 has a 384. What does that tell you? Wait for the 384!!!

My source is here, they look pretty close to me

I was also attacked for pointing out the early fake chiphell slides that mentioned GTX 680 == GK100 , 7970 using XDR2 RAM, and the lenzfire kepler specifications. Some people just want to believe no matter what because it makes their preferred brand look good even if it isn't true. Personally, I prefer to wait for legitimate sources. Who would you believe, a site like HardOCP/TPU/etc or a random unknown source with various potentially fake slides? Its all good though, believe it if you want thumb.gif

Certainly the performance will be impressive if true, in the meantime this source looks shady to say the least. I'm sure some fans will attack me for pointing out the obvious.

Nvidia says the 680 will trade blows with the 7970. All these fake reviews are a stock 7970vs an overclocked to hell 680. So both overclocked will win some and lose some, as said by nvidia themselves.

A 590 smokes the heck out of a 7970 (again, not if one is oc and the other isnt) so it's a safer bet to say 590 will still be faster, as it should be.

But we should really just wait because to assume is to make an ass of you and me

9800 GX2 > ATI 3870 x2
GTX 285 > ATI 4890
GTX 295 > ATI 4870 x2
GTX 480 > ATI 5870 (GTX 480 was abut 15-20% faster than the ATI 5870 but consumed more power and was loud)
ATI 5970 > ALL nVidia cards that generation
GTX 580 > AMD 6970
GTX 590 < AMD 6990 (Very close but the GTX 590 had many issues)
History shows that nVidia's single GPU card performance is always better but the past 2 generations AMD has had the fastest dual GPU card. Maybe this year because nVidia's Kepler is more efficient they will release a dual GPU card that performs very well.

is this pure performance? gtx 285 was not better than the 4890. sure it was 10-15% faster, but you forget it also took around 50 more watts, ran way hotter and cost 50% more. there was also a 4890x2 which outperformed the gtx 295 which is based on gtx 280 architecture and underclocked. gtx 480 was better, but it came out like a year later so....you forget the horrible temps it had. someone is an nvidia fanboy

the 4890 was more in line with the 275. Although the 4890 was pretty toasty as well

My wallet is ready now!

Honestly don't know which one I will pick. If the graphs floating around are accurate, then I will remain forever confused. Might just end up going for a Sapphire 7970 OC (unless my supplier starts stocking the Lightning), because I can't wait around for the OC versions of the 680's. Maybe. Or maybe I should wait for the coolers to come out and pick up a reference? Damn you Nvidia! Why can't you release an uber card just for me!

I doubt your, doubt. Historically Nvidia will launch on tues or thurs, except the 480. It was launched on a friday at Pax E. I still have that same 480 serial #0000069.

There is a reason evga is talking about their warranty, and all these leaked benchies. I say next week too. Guessing thumb.gif
