1090t & Eyefinity

Thread Starter
A year or so ago i built a 1090t rig and ive always been talking about going eyefinity.. so this year for my birthday my girlfriend was nice enough and got me 3 Dell U2312HM's. Now i dont have a good enough graphics card right now as i only have a 5670 i'll need to get a 7950 or a 7970.
So i was wondering if the 1090t should be good enough to push eyefinity in games like WoW and most FPS's. Or do i absolutely need to go sandybridge ?

Thanks!

It's more so the graphics card than the CPU. I'd worry about getting a good GPU setup going to handle games well at eyefinity resolutions before worrying about CPU.

Yeah i know the its typically GPU related, i just know some games.. like.. World of Warcraft is very cpu related.

WoW is actually more so network dependent than CPU, but you're right about it having more to do with CPU than GPU. Realistically, WoW still doesn't use more than two cores, so it really doesn't matter. All that's important is you don't have an ancient dual core that WoW will take up all of its usage.

All i know is you better hold on to that girl.

Alright, thanks for the responses, guess its time to get a 7970!

Remember if you do decide to go dual 7970s, IB is probably a better idea than the old Phenom. (PCI-E 3.0 support and better GPU support)

i would think dual 7970's would bottleneck the 1090t(i could be wrong but i would think so) but you never know once IB comes out i may go that route.

The 1090T would bottleneck the 7970, if he were even close to playing at a standard resolution.

Eyefinity across a resolution that large is going to put a considerable amount of work on the GPU so honestly; it shouldn't really matter. Personally, I'd say go the GPU route first, the 1090T is still a very capable processor. In the future, you can always get IB, but a meak card coupled with a faster CPU is going to cry at that resolution, even with all that horsepower.
