Epic My fan will be shipped to me on Monday so i will have it on Tueday. I hate when retailers say that they have it on stock but they dont. This is becoming quite common recently. I am hoping to have a much better airflow when I can finally install my 140mm on the bottom.

Hey everyone.

So my Akasa Viper 140 mm fan just came about an hour ago and i finally installed it but I am having an issue

Here are some pictures

I set the fan up the right way. It is taking air from the bottom of the case and pumping it towards the top, however i did not see this helping with the GPU temperatures at all.

I started this thread about my issue and will be getting some help

It's going ot improve case airflow, which will help expell some warm air from the GPU, if you want a fan to cool the GPU you need a fan blowing directly on it.

Nice thread op thumb.gif

I feel you on the cheaper initial hardware. I bought my motherboard back when SLI and Xfire were competing beasts and relatively new to the consumer gamer. But it was in my budget so I guess that is what counts. I originally had an E7200 Core 2 Duo, then got the Q9550 I have now.

I really wish I had an SLI capable board as I'd love to run 2 GTX 470's right now rolleyes.gif At the time one x16 slot met my needs.
Glad your now addicted, the more the merrier. smile.gif

I believe i can not do this with my current case so i will be upgrading to a full tower case. I will start a thread asking for recommendations.

people had recommended me to get a Full Tower case few months back but of course i did not listen. I bought a mid tower case whoch was cheaper but guess what. Today I decided to upgrade my case to a FULL TOWER case. Are you also content with your setup or will you be upgrading some time in the future?

Honestly the Q9550 I am running now still puts out a lot of performance. I did research into my motherboard though which did pay off as it is a decent overclocker and has the P45 chipset which is very fast.
I have done small updates in the past couple of years. Just recently I added a Samsung 830 128GB SSD and moved my Windows7 install to it. I also just moved to a new Corsair 300R case - I rather like the smaller towers, the big ones are way to overdone for me.
and did the Kuhler 620 mod to my GTX 470 (which is a flashed GTX 465 tongue.gif). I like to mod I guess.
My next upgrade will be a system upgrade, motherboard + CPU + Memory, but I don't know when that will happen.

Right now I have everything setup pretty good and I get great performance in just about every game out there, so I guess for now I am still fairly content with my Core 2 Quad 9550 setup biggrin.gif
When I do upgrade it will be with the intention of running SLI in the future.
The biggest lesson I have learned from my build is to invest in the base system components, the motherboard + PSU, and everything else you can update on the way. Good fun.

I have a Coolermaster 690 II advanced which is a large med tower,, It's not the tower size but the setup,, even if you go full tower, if you get one with bad fan placment your be in the same boat. The 690 is a real hidden gem IMO you should check it out. I find full towers to large unless you need the room for extra water cooling, but each to their own, post some picks when you get setup

So I decided on the case and the decision is an Aerocool Xpredator Evil Black Edition

Here you can get lots of information about the case.

Some features are

Here is a video of the case

and some pictures

This will be a first experience for me as i had never ever mounted a rig from scratch. I will probably be asking for lots of help on Friday. I will bring my laptop from work and constantly adding pictures as I am upgrading my rig.

There will probably be few questions I will ask when the time comes, so i am waiting for all of your supports.

I will basically transport everything in my current rig to this one, but i had never transfered CPU and Motherboard before. Good thing is that i believei dont have to take out the CPU and the fan and can mount the motherboard like that.

Nice case, my other post must of eased,, You could probably install your mobo with the heat sink on but it looks large and it might be awkward. I always remove everything and start from scratch when doing a rebuild.
