All 7970s seem to overclock amazingly well.

Gigabyte, HIS, MSI, XFX all make great versions with non reference coolers. Also accelero makes an aftermarket triple fans cooler as well.

Good info for air cooling. I am getting a 7970 soon and the EK waterblocks, this is my first jump to radeon and curious if a certain brand would overclock better than others, and if any supported aftermarket water coolers in warranty.

Powercolor LCS+ 7970. Comes with factory installed waterblock.

Probably a little more expensive than a stock 7970 and then adding an aftermarket Water block, but this takes the hard work out of it, and doesnt void warranties.

Will OC to 1270 on Core (if you arent so agressive with mem OC) or 1235 with a bigger mem OC. Review here.

If you want to stick with air cooling there are three cards I'd recommend for 7970's (along with links to reviews I've read if you're interested):

• MSI 7970 Lightning (HardwareHeaven Review | KitGuru Review | HardOCP Review)
• Gigabyte 7970 OC Windforce (Guru3D Review | HardwareCanucks Review)
• Sapphire 7970 OC Dual X (TweakTown Review | HardwareHeaven Review | KitGuru Review)

All three have excellent coolers that keep temperatures low with low noise levels. Lightnings would generally be considered the best for overclocking, but they're generally the most expensive, so if you'd rather keep the prices low I'd go for whichever is the cheapest. Personally, if I had to buy one at this point in time I'd go with the Sapphire Dual X - $580 off Amazon and its performance looks excellent.
