9800GTX+ physical question and general SLI

Thread Starter
I did some dust cleanup on my card today, and noticed the solder around the mounting hole is melted... I'm wondering if this could be a factory issue or if the card got roasted. I swapped it out for an EVGA 560ti 448 core classified (LOVE!!) and noticed my computer sped up insanely fast and hoping to chalk it up to corrupted drivers.

I apologize for the quality of the picture, I'm an expert shakey hand cellphone photographer. 700

Also, if the 9800GTX is solid, could I slap it in with the 560 and let the two work together?

You should be able to use the 9800 as a physx card if it works but I would be worried any time I see a melted part... Still how would that melt??

No you cannot SLI different cards. That is a feature unique to crossfire (ati/amd) and even then only on certain older cards.

You can however use the 9800 as a dedicated physx card. If it's worth it to you is up to you. Not a whole lot of games use hardware gpu physx in the first place, so it could be a lot of power draw and heat for no benefit if you don't play those few games frequently.

You could also use it for F@H
