upgrading 470's to single card

Thread Starter
i have to asus 470's and would like to go to a single card. Im hearing that the 680 is coming out soon so that is defiantly an option. The other concern is that i'm about to add a 3rd monitor and im pretty sure the 680 wont do surround on a single card.

what should i be looking at?

680 and a small card for the 3rd monitor or stick with sli and do 580's?

I guessing that sli 580 could be had for about the same as the release price of the 680?!?!?!?

any help would be great. thanks guys!

680 should support up to 4 displays on a single card.

GTX680 supports up to 4 monitors.

With 2xDVI and 1xHDMI, it supports 3 monitors in 3D Surround (note: no need of Display Port).
398

One can use the DP port and add a fourth monitor to do 3+1 setup.

From what we know, so far, the 680 is starting to look good and piece together bit by bit of information. But, who knows exactly being that it's mostly biased info. I'm for sure going to be sticking it out with NVIDIA and picking up the 680 though.

That's great news that I can just run 1 card. Now I just need it to be released and have a water block developed!

Damn. I always hate decision time. At Least I have a week before it is supposed to be released. I'll wait for some reviews and see what my best bet will be to do surround on 23.6" monitors

Maybe if my ax850 can handle it I'll just put a 680 above the 470's and run all 3 cards......

I am not completely sure that you can do that.. If your looking for a single card to replace a 470 sli set up then the 680 IS your best bet on nvidia side. I dont think that you will see any water blocks until later for the card, but from what i have seen the card stays cooler than the 7970 at a higher clock!
