Either you messed something up or your laptop has a beast monitor. I've got a 2 year old Acer and the screen on that is junk. I've literally tried showing a picture to a friend (I don't recall what it was, but the colors were important) and my laptop's monitor ruined it completely.

Somewhat related, I tried Digital Versus' monitor settings (standard mode, gamma 1, color temperature reddish) and that looks really weird and gives me strange gamma results. Strange recommendation, especially considering what all other sites are recommending.

Lovin' my XL2420T!
Very nice for competitive FPS, don't notice much if any input lag

I like the remote... but I'm not using it as the cable is impossible to hide nicely it's hella awkward. I wish the remote was built in or had wire clips on the back of the stand

Here's what I currently have it set at:

Standard Mode
Brightness 36
Contrast 50
Sharpness 6
Gamma 4
RGB - 96 97 100

Lowering the brightness doesn't really help. I think it's the RGB values that's making the overall image washed out.

I have the XL2420T version and mine is also very washed looking by default, it was set to FPS 1 out of the box. I have a colorimeter and a PLS S27A850D and Asus VG236H, both are calibrated. With the gamma @ mode 1 the gamma looks like it's <1.8 in all of the default presets. I set the gamma to mode 5 and it is much closer to looking like my S27A850D.

Mine also had a strong purple tint out of the box similar to that of the Samsung S23A700D I had. I measured a colour temperature by default was around 7000-7100k in all of the presets.

The black equalizer and most of the preset modes are completely useless and were extremely washed out on mine. There is no reason for any of this. All they have to do is properly calibrate each display to the industry standard (color temp 6500k, Gamma 2.2) and not bother with a bunch of awful colour presets. I don't understand why every manufacturer provides a bunch of useless picture modes when they could just set the displays properly once.

The Standard and sRGB modes provided the best results out of the box, however the S27A950D, S23A700D and VG236H I've used all came with better default colours.

The User colour setting brings the colour temperature down to around 67-6800k on mine which is really good.

You can see my review in progress here: http://wecravegamestoo.com/forums/electronics-gadgetry-reviews/10706-benq-xl2420t-120hz-3d-monitor-review.html#post780117

So far I have only uploaded my PixerPixAn results and input lag vs my Asus VG236H.

I'm interested to see if Nvidia 3D Vision 2 is worthy of any hype.

Glad I'm not the only struggling to find the perfect settings. What all do you have the monitor set at in terms on gamma, rgb levels, and brightness?

These are settings for 140cdm/2 brightness, 6500k colour temperature and 2.2 Gamma

Brightness: 5
Contrast: 50
Red: 96
Green: 97
Blue: 95
Gamma: Mode 2

These are settings just from my initial calibration and every display is different....there is definitely something wrong with the gamma settings on this display. The dark grey tones are way to dark with mode 5 yet everything else is washed out. I'm just playing around with profiling so I'm not sure what the best setting is yet.

Nvidia 3D Vision 2 is just brighter than regular 3D...which IMO is unnecessary since the regular Nvidia 3D displays can put out 300cdm/2+ already and my BenQ has grey blacks in 3D mode unlike the VG236H and S23A700D. Thanks to the AG coating, when watching Tintin in 3D it looked like I was watching it through a screen door. Initially I thought my blu-ray was defective so I watched Tintin on my Asus and it looked much better and the screen door effect was gone.

Replaced it for what problem?

@XL2420TX owners

Is the 3D Vision mode sleep issue still not solved?

Help me with something . Look at the pages 19 and 20 to see my test with PixerPixan , the streaky pictures don`t look good when press ctrl button and save with F5 . Should not look more clear the car picture in the little box ?

You need to take a picture with a camera with a shutter speed of 1/125 or higher. The screen shot feature is useless sense that is not how the moving car actually looks to our eyes.
