Hey XL2420TX owners... anyone else having this issue?I used the gameloader for BF3 settings, and it said to restart the monitor after applying the update.. ever since then.. I can no longer control the monitor from the buttons on the side of the monitor... the wheel mouse looking thing still works, but I cant turn off the monitor or anything now.. ideas?

Never mind.. I figured it out.. had to unplug the monitor for 5min... weird.. I unplugged it for about 30sec then plugged it back in, but still would not initialize the side buttons... also the green tint I was noticing is now gone... looks like I needed a good cold boot on my monitor. smile.gif

I've been using the xl2420t monitor over the weekend and I am pleased with the performance so far.

My previous monitor was a Viewsonic vx2268, which I've used for 2.5 years. I briefly had a Dell u2312m last year, so I will be comparing this monitor to those two.

The colors out the box were quite off, but the settings in the op helped to correct this. They are not as good as the dell and are dependent on the viewing angle (especially on the lcd test website), but video isn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Color uniformity is similar to the viewsonic.

The stand is well made and sturdy, the height adjust is a nice touch and reminds me of the dell. The viewsonic stand is very flimsily in comparison.

3D performance is excellent, especially compared to the vx2268. Lightboost makes a real difference; there is only a slight dimming of picture in 3d mode with gen 1 glasses. Ghosting is non issue in most games. Unfortunately my version doesn’t include a built in ir-emitter.

At first the monitor can be awkward to turn on; the touch sensitive button isn’t that great. I would have preferred buttons over this.

In my opinion the best feature of this monitor is its ability to scale automatically to different resolutions. For example, if I am running an older game and the settings only allow for 4:3 / 5:4 resolutions, the monitor automatically sets to pillar box mode, similar to televisions. I never tried this on the dell, but the viewsonic would lock out the aspect ratio adjust in dvi mode.
In addition to this, the monitor re-adjusts the viewable area when using a lower resolution. This prevents the picture looking stretched out and blurry.

Going from 22" 16:10 to 24" 16:9 wasn’t as hard of an adjust I thought it would be as the screen is roughly the same height as the viewsonic.

Overall this monitor is near excellent. Compared to the viewsonic, the 3d performance is alot better and more enjoyable.
Compared to the dell, it’s not as vibrant. While I had the dell I used it to play Deus EX:HR. In the game all the little details were visible and colors looked cleaner and distinctive. In comparison the benq feels a little washed out.
I didn’t get a chance to try out any fast passed games on the dell such as ut3 so cannot comment on this aspect, but apart from being a little washed out the benq provides a similar experience.

While in windows and normal day to day usage all three monitors felt the same.

As far as recommendations between the dell and benq go, the former wins on color uniformity and the latter on the way it can scale resolutions and 3d.
If 3d is not important to you then its a tougher call, but I would still go for the benq unless you do a fair amount of photo editing or the price is too high in your country.

If you'd tried some fast paced FPS games, you'd see a clear improvement in smoothness of motion and sharpness while in motion. That's worth it for me.
