First thing to note is that this monitor really struggles at low brightness settings. You'll have to deal with the high brightness if you want the colors to be anywhere close to "true". Notice the increase in digital vibrance, this really helps make the colors "pop". For BF3, I use a DV setting of 65%-70%. ATI has a similar setting, I believe it is called saturation. Enjoy...
Monitor Settings:
Picture Mode: Standard
Brightness 85 or 90
Contrast 50
Sharpness 5
Gamma 4
Color Temp ---> user mode 98 98 100
Nvidia Control Panel Settings:
Desktop Use:
check the "Other application control color settings" option
Digital Vibrance = 56% (default = 50%)
Brightness burns a hole through my face, but these settings make the washed out colors look a lot more lively. I'll use your setting for about a week and if I don't go blind I'll keep it. biggrin.gif.

Hi,

Is 3D on the 7970 with the XL2420 out of the question? Only nvidia 3D on this monitor?

Hello, I can only see nVidia sticker on my monitor, so i don't think it supports. But i don't know for sure, but my guess would be no.
Some one correct me if i am wrong.

Hi guys!

I just bought this monitor on June 26th. The BenQ XL2420TX 3D monitor with included 3D glasses.

I have a problem with the monitor already, as of last weekend.

I was using the following color settings:

Picture Mode: Standard
Color Temperature: Normal

The one night, I was using it and it was completely fine.

The next morning, I turned the monitor on and the screen was all GREEN. There was a green hue over the whole screen.

I troubleshot it, maybe it's the cable, my video card, etc but I worked it down to the monitor itself.

If I choose a different Picture Mode like Movie, FPS1, etc the screen looks normal.

Even if I go to Picture Mode: Standard, then change it to User on the Color Temperature, it fixes the colors. It seems like only the "Normal" and color specific tints are way way off. Even the Red tint makes the screen like REALLY REALLY red. Normal makes it Green.

I contacted my retailer, as it is within 30 days and I bought it in-store however I have gone back to where I am from, where there is no local store so I am forced to ship it to them. It's probably going to be around $40 to ship it to them.

Seeing as I can make the colors normal by using the User defined color settings. Should I bother RMA'ing it? My only concern is that it's a lot easier to RMA it now, within the 30 day period, than it is down the road if something else decides to go terribly wrong with it.

Thoughts?

Thank you!!!

There's an option to reset the monitor to factory settings. One user received a monitor with a special config that had most likely been used for some event and he fixed it by resetting. Try it. I'd still keep it though. If something else goes wrong, you can RMA it for that, it's not like they refuse to fix flaws outside the 30 day return period.

I did try the FULL config reset, as well as the lesser color reset from the other menu and neither one of them fixes it :\

The other thing, is that my retailer said they don't actually have any in stock, and couldn't tell me when they would be getting them. They had to send back a whole batch because they were bad apparently. This makes me not want to RMA it because I don't really want to use my TV anymore with my gaming rig.

I know I can RMA it later, I just meant that it's easier to RMA it with my retailer within the 30 days, than it is to RMA it with BenQ some time down the road....maybe. I don't know. I've never had to RMA anything. I guess it pretty much just means contacting BenQ support and describing the problem, just as I did with my retailer and them issuing me an RMA number or whatever. And I see in BenQ's warranty page they say I pay for shipping to them, they pay for shipping back to me, the same as my retailer is doing. So it's really not all that different I guess.

When connecting to Display port for 120Mhz.

I take it all I need to do is buy a mini DP to full size DP and it will work?

I can't believe neither the graphics card or the monitor has supplied the DP lead :|
