BenQ XL2410/11/20 Club - Page 63

Can't believe it took me so long to find this page. I knew it existed prior to me buying the monitor and after I bought I couldn't seem to find it.

Anyways, I just bought the XL2420TX despite the new asus 144 Hz monitor and the 2411T coming out soon. I really didn't care, I had my mind set on this monitor since first seeing and now I finally have one. I've read all the reviews and stuff and I reeeaaaaly like this monitor, i just have a few issues:

Calibration: i have tried some of the suggested calibration settings such as the one from tft central (screen became washed out when I applied the ICC, i tried reversing the process and it seems fine buti'm not sure if I removed it). The thing is that many of these calibrations are aimed at color accuracy which I don't care for too much. What a want is a deep, vibrant display when using the desktop/browsing the web, and a bright under-saturated display when fps gaming (overly rich, deep colors give me a headache when I play online fps).
After Calibrating the monitor using the OSD, I then went over to tweak some Nvidia settings (desktop color), lowered the brightness and it gave me a beautiful vivid image. I notice sometimes the monitor would re-adjust it's settings when I enter a game (This is what I want). Is this safe (I read that software calibration can damage a monitor permanently)? How do I make sure this always happens? Is there a better way to calibrate my monitor? I don't mind assigning two different calibrations to the Gamer one and two presets.

3D vision backlight bleed?: Does anyone notice that when 3d is enables and a black background is present there is some kind of distortion? I'm not sure if it is backlight bleed because it doesn't occur when 3D is off.

Additional profiles: Does any use any of the presets in the OSD or have downloaded any from the site? Which do you recommend?

Also can you add me to the cub? I joined this site for that sole reason. Thanks

Software calibration doesn't damage a display. The games adjust the settings because they use their own gamma and color settings. Some will do it, some won't, you can't really force it.
I've added you to the club.

I hadn't thought about it. I guess I will open the club for 2411 users, they're similar enough that it'd be a waste to make another club just for them.

Hello I'm a new owner of the xl2420t .. I just received the monitor last night and to be honest I'm not impressed .
1. I noticed a dead pixel . Well maybe it's not dead if may just be stuck( the pixel isnt black but green when the screen is black)but I tired 2 different methods to methods to get rid of it . They said it should go away in time .
2. I own a Samsung 40" 1080p LCD tv series 6 and I know what 120 hz looks like and this monitor doesn't look the same . In games it gives the options to raise the resolution and 120 hz but to me it looks the same as 60 hz . My Samsung is running on a 5 year old hp computer with a nvidia 9600 gt overclocked video card and when I compare diablo 3 to the benq the Samsung is a lot smoother . Here are the specs to the rig the benq is using
Asus cg1330 desktop
Amd phenom x6 1035t 2.6 ghz (2.8 ghz OC)
Thermaltake 750 psu
Msi gtx 570 twin frozer iii pe .
I'm using the duel dvi cable
I've tested on lots of different games and the only difference that I notice between the benq and my old asus ve205 is the resolution .all the fps seem the same to me . I plan on getting a new mobo , CPU , case etc little by little but is there any advice or tips that I can do in the mean time to justify this purchase .
Thanks guys

Owner of a 2420 and just got a 2411 because there was a special offer that was too good to pass. I'll check out the 2411 in the next few days to find out if it's really faster than the 2420. I'm mainly an online FPS player.

Ok just played some Black Ops 2, definitely a little faster than the 2420, not a lot faster but faster enough that you can appreciate it. Very happy with the investment^^
