How many of us have blown our 'budgets'

Man, I started my current sig rig build with a budget of $1000 given to me by my lovely wife and..... I blew it. I thought I was on track and doing good keeping my budget in mind and then BF3 was realeased and more upgrades insued. I had already bought one 560ti at the time and when playing BF3 I had issues on some ultra settings so I figured a second one would fix everything not knowing about Vram buffering doh.gif

2500k - $214.99
Mobo - $179.99
Psu - $179.99
560ti - $239.99
560ti - $239.99
SSD - $179.99
HDD - $89.99
RAM - $79.99
Cooling - $69.99
Case - $129.99
DVD - $24.99

$1629.99

Including tax I spent $767 over my budget biggrin.gif

I bought everything over the span of three months and kept taking money from our savings account to buy more POWAAA!

So how many of you have blown budgets and by how much?

I don't even want to know how much I've spent on my rig in total honestly. It was originally supposed to be a $100 upgrade over my Athlon II x4, DFI LP DK 790FX, and 8GB of DDR2-1200. Supposed to be just a straight swap of those 3 parts. Ended up buying 3 more GPU's since then, the SSD, an entire freaking server, two HTPC's because I had a FEW spare parts laying around, a 30" Dell monitor, tons of audio gear, water cooling.........the list goes on and on.....

sozo.gif

All of this because I went for that $100 total upgrade to Intel. frown.gif

Original budget was $600 cheap gaming. Then let's just say that too many good parts on sale and I went over to $1200 total. Then of course were problems and needed upgrades. I needed a new motherboard since my lasts Inez's PCIE slot broke, costing $140, then a new steagate 2TB hard drive costing another $140. So $840 over budget thumb.gif of course I haven't even added in PERIPHERALS so... thumb.gif

I sometimes blow my budget on single items instead of a whole rig. Latest item might be the HD 7870 that is coming out. *facedesk*

I think I could have spent alot less and had a better performing rig in games. This was my first ever true gaming rig so it is a learnig experience for me and my next rig will be godly.
Been there bro.

My sig rig started out with $1000 budget as well, then I played the old "well I might as well make this part better its only another $60 how can I not?" But if I upgrade that I gotta upgrade this too because, uhh... thats the rules? And those guys would bottleneck if I don't up this piece as well. Then once the price got north of $1500 I told myself "well I won't have to do this again for awhile". Then my buddy offered to buy my old comp for $200 and that some how in my mind (still don't know how) justified spending another $500. So when it was all said and done I was somewhere around $2000.

But hey BF3 runs on ultra so...thumb.gif

Yup, for me I started with upgrading my P4 3.06ghz to a 2500k and p8p67 board and still using my 9800GTX and old hdd, psu, case. I was like hell no I need a better gpu and psu and case which was allowed for in my budget. Then BF3 was released so a second 560ti was needed along with a ssd to get to ultra settings no MSAA and 4x AA.
