Will It Fit?

Thread Starter
Im in the process of purchasing components for a new build. I was wondering whether the ram i have selected will fit on the motherboard with an aftermarket cooler on the cpu. Here are the components:

ASRock Z68 Extreme 3 Gen 3

G.Skill Ripjaws X

Hyper 212 Evo

Will it fit?

Thanks!

Yes, you shouldn't have any problems.

1 x 8GB kit no problems, if you populate all slots i am pretty sure with the ripjawsX and EVO its ok but might be close smile.gif

does anyone know for a fact that it will fit?
-thanks!

I'm running the Corasir Vengance sticks in Dual Channel config too and their heatsink headers are MUCH taller than the RipJaws. The cooler fits with out any issues as long as you use TWO channels to fill up the board. All four populated might end up being a bit tight but should work afine on yours as I use an mATX. The only perfect way to find out would be to get someone with the exact same config to tell you(shouldn't be too hard) or get a tape measure and compare the distance between the CPU board and the closest RAM slot with width specs of the Evo manually.

I believe the ripjaws should have enough clearance with that cooler... I came across a good review a while back from someone with a similar setup and they worked fine. I'll post it here if I can find it

I have the exact same board and cooler, but i have corsair vengeance ram sticks, which seem to be taller than the ripjaws. I just used slots 2 & 4 for memory, which are cleared from the cooler.

okay thank you, does it matter which slots you put them in?

For dual channel memory to work, you need to either use slot 1 & 3 together, or 2 & 4. Whether you use option A or B is up to you, I'm using B (slot 2 & 4) since the fins on the vengeance kit are too high to fit underneath my fan on the cooler. And you're welcome

sweet, also, i saw that the ripjaws x 8gb ram at 1866 is on sale for $3 more than the 1600 ram, should i just pick up the faster ram instead? can my setup even run faster ram?
