BF3 Crashes almost ALL THE TIME when joining servers

"Display Driver Has Stopped Responding"

My mouse starts incredibly lagging, after about 2 seconds of that, I get a pixelated screen for a millisecond, then it goes to black and I have to end BF3 from task manager. This happens almost half the times I join a server, but once I'm in the game, I'm in the game for good. This started happening VERY recently, my first case of this happening was about 3-5 days ago... I reinstalled 12.1 drivers 3 times (using driver sweeper of course), and then I went back to 11.12, but I'm still having the problem. PB is updated and everything -- I even ran my card at stock settings to verify that it wasn't the overclock. I tried 3 different PCI-E slots. I also tried using HDMI instead of DVI (I was desperate and I had a cable lying around).

Still crashing.
Any ideas?

Could be the card going bad card itself. You said you tried stock settings, but did you actually RESET it to factory defaults rather than just setting it back manually?

It was working fine for about a year on superb overclocks - 1000mhz core 1150 memory at 1200mV.. if it really is the card and not the software, what could possible cause this to happen?

It's definitely NOT the card. I literally just ran the Crysis Benchmark on full ultra at 1920x1080p, 99 LOOPS. Completely stable.

I guess it's just BF3 hmmsmiley02.gif Very strange considering that there weren't any recent patches or anything

BF3 is a very broken game.
I'm always amazed at the frequencies I see on 6850's. So many seem to be 'stable' at 925+ when I just don't believe much of it. I'm not saying your card isn't stable OP, but the first indicative signs of a bad overclock are drivers failing (as in your case).

I mean.. I could never get my 6850, even with extra cooling and low memory overclocks past 875 before it artifacted slightly. Anyways, I think your overclock is unstable to be honest.

And BF3 is insanely broken for many parts of it.

You did have a lot of voltage on that card. You might have degraded it past stock settings stability.

Stock voltage is 1149mV on my 6850. I set it at 1200mV 24/7.

note: picture from 363 days ago, 35 minute burn in, EXTREME burn in

Can it really degrade from such wonderful clocks to being unstable at stock in a single year? wackosmiley.gif

Drop everything to stock. I have issues with running BF3 when overclocked but runs fine at stock speeds.
