Get i3, you can add a discrete graphic card later.

Has OP already purchased the parts?

Just so you know, Llano hybrid crossfire with 6670 yields 6770 performance. Not impressive at all if you ask me about. Just because Llano is true quad core does not mean Intel is slower when it comes to multithread performance.

http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/A8-3850-vs-Core-i3-2100-CPU-Review/1325/1

My advice is to buy i3-21xx and HD6770. Better CPU performance, and you don't have to deal with any complication risen from crossfire.

OH lord..I've got a war going on! Haha,

Ok, I'll try to address this. I just got a text from my friend(A mom I've known for years) she will get her tax $$$$$ back in less than 2 weeks, and will get up with me then. My budget is 500$. I already got a Corsair 430 for 42$, minus a 20$ rebate, so............22$.
Which leaves me with, $478

I've done some of my own research at the moment, and I've narrowed down all the parts with the exception of case and CPU/Motherboard.

The cheapest option, right now,(That leaves $$ for a decent case) is the unlocked A8, or even the locked A6.
I've compared benchmarks, and knowing how she is.........she has very, very little knowledge of PC's, so I doubt she will be interested in upgrading in the future.....This system will have 8 gigs of ram, 500HD, Windows 7, DVD drive, and I will turn off various services and crap in WIN 7 that she won't need.
All she will be doing is Skype chatting, normal web browsing, bla bla bla.....So I'm betting the A8 unlocked or A6 will be plenty....

However, if anyone wants to come up with a kick butt system for 478$.........go right ahead, and I'll look it over...

I take it no gaming? If gaming keep in mind that RAM speed is very important in Llano (1600 minimum, 1866 recommended).

Yes, I will be getting 1600 at a minimum..................but she has little need for gaming.

imo I would not get an unlocked processor and OC it for someone who has little knowledge of PC's. Because they will have no idea what to do when something goes wrong. It is too much of a hastle/risk. If she isnt doing any gaming what-so-ever, you should be able to fit an i5-2400, 8GB Ram, H61/67 mobo within the budget, you might even be able to put in a small SSD for the OS :thumb:I will look up prices later.
