We're not talking about phone apps, we're talking about slate apps. Unless you want to run phone apps on your slate... sure. That's somewhat limiting in the types of apps you have, or what kind of functionality can be provided.

A bunch of Android fragmentation articles were published today. A quick Google News search of "Android" will yield the results.

I still don't really understand it. I mean, is my Nexus One supposed to be upgraded to the current Android version forever? It stopped at Gingerbread. What's wrong with that?

And it's not like the current top high-end games on iOS or Android could run on the goddamn thing anyway.

Thread Starter
Wow, this thread took a different direction than I had expected. Anyway, I read this recently about Safari's image handling on the new iPad. It is very informative:
"Web-browsing on any iOS-based device is often a less-than-satisfactory experience. Specifically, when it comes to pictures and images, the mobile version of Safari automatically downsamples any image when it hits the 1024-pixel limit. When an image exceeds that threshold, it's downsampled by every nth pixel, such that n is the smallest divisor that yields an image less than or equal to 1024 pixels."
