1. OCN. When I had Blown up two msi's 4+1 phase motherboards while ocing 1055t 125w cpu on it, I became curious and started searching to know why those motherboard were failing and I found extremly useful information about VRM failure in OCN. Overclock.net led me to know more about motherboard power circuitry, this resulted me to buy a stable motherboard for my cpu. And here I love people helping each other without any sort of discrimination, also they respect what others have. And I believe only Overclock.net is my facebook smile.gif

2. Now my Phenom II X6 1055T is perfectly stable at 286*14 (4.0ghz) with prime95 blend for over 5hrs. But I don't run at oced 24/7 (afraid of unexpected cpu/mobo death) unless I really feel that some specific application could really worth the performance at 4ghz.

1. When I was first looking for a site for computer enthusiasts, I originally found and joined Anandtech. I did get a little knowledge there, but when I discovered OCN and their vast number of people, I thought to myself that this community was so much better. I didn't join right away. When I eventually did, I met so many cool people and got to learn even more about what it takes to not only overclock, but to understand the technology that goes with the manufacture of certain components.

2. Hmmmm, I would have to say my AMD Athlon 64 3200+. Even though it was an extremely small overclock, I had a chance to learn how to play with the settings and eventually be able to know what it took to go with overclocking processors.

1. Overclock.net ofcourse tongue.gif. I haven't found another place like it with such a great community full of knowledgeable and helpful people. It's really helped open many doors in my life after learning everything I've learned from being a member on this site

2. The first thing I overclocked was an ATI All in Wonder 9800 pro, and it didn't end well. I was completely clueless at the time and just put the clocks up to the highest it could go and friend the thing rolleyes.gif
post #28 of 101

interesting!

1) OCN of course, friendly community with people that are very knowledgeable

2) my c2d processor, got it to 3ghz stable. not a huge accomplishment by any means, but was the first.

1) OCN has the best community and widest breadth of content, making it an interesting source of general tech-news and browsing, but there are occasionally too many noob-douche-trolls that make it a lesser experience. Would be nice to have a VIP section, especially for build/help/overclock suggestions - I've seen tons of misinformation spewed as if it were unequivocal fact. My 2nd choice site is probably Bit-Tech.net (being British), and their member case-mods section is un-freaking-believable.

2) First thing I ever overclocked was my 486 SX or DX system I believe - pushed a case button to switch from 25 to 33mhz biggrin.gif

Haha, but seriously, pretty sure it was my 128bit ATI 9700m in a laptop a long time ago now. That card was beastly at the time (the laptop cost near $3k), and I was using a 3rd party program like ATI traytools or something to change the clocks. It's hard to remember, as I had a long period of no-computers for a while. My first overclock back from the break was a friends QX9650 on an Asus Rampage (or equivalent). Pushed towards 4ghz, but man it was hard keeping the temps down. Didn't realize a 92mm fan and heatsink was that small till I started really researching. My personal one after that was an AMD x3 720 @3.65ghz with an HD5770 at 980mhz/1350mhz. Addicted ever since, and have since OC'd an Athlon 630 rig I built, two 2500k rigs, a 1090t rig, and another laptop.

1. I've never overclocked any of my components so I don't keep up in that area but I'm inclined to say that OCN is one of the top sites.
2. As I've said, I've never overclocked any components but I definitely will in the future when I can afford something better that an i3-2100.
