Help finding a mouse with a good pinky rest - Page 2

How is the sensor inferior? In tracking speed or quality? and Would the 3200 be better even though its optical. Also if I do get the mouse what pad would you recommend.

Problem with the laser in the 5000 is that it has minor positive acceleration issues which isn't very consistent for aiming, however this really only affects low sensitivity gamers. If you use a fairly mid-high sensitivity then it should be fine I think as you probably won't notice it. The 3200 doesn't have this acceleration problem, but it does have the lift off distance issue mentioned.

3200 has better tracking at it's native resolution BUT a worse lift-of-distance. For most people the 5000 is the preferred choice due to higher dpi (personally i find anything over 2500 or so utterly pointless but w/e) and lower LOD.The acceleration/jitter introduced in the 5000 is so slight that only the most sensitive users are likely to notice unless playing at the lowest possible DPI (WHICH RENDERS HIGH DPI LASER SENSORS WORTHLESS ANYWAY)).

as far as it being optical, I still fail to see what makes you think laser sensors are somehow superior. most serious gamers actually prefer optical mice. lasers have many more issues than optical and seldom have any real benefits other than higher DPI (which as I state earlier, is somewhat of a moot point IMO).

SORRY for the crappy random caps lock. wireless keyboard on this htpc is dying on me. some asshat dropped it and partially shattered it frown.gif

steelseries ikari laser. most comfortable mouse I have ever used. I love it tongue.gif

steelseries has some of the very WORST sensors of any gaming mice. there's a reason people have been gutting them and replacing their electronics with those of other mice for years now. They're comfortable to hold and duable but functionally worthless.

Ok well I game at 700 dpi and I think the lift off problem will piss me off so is the DA the only other choice for a good palm grip mouse. I really like the look of the pinky rest on the 5000 but if I will notice acceleration/jitter I don't want it.

Well to me the steelseries sensei was a big improvmentt also the kana and kinzu v2 too

at 700 dpi you MAY notice it if you are VERY sensitive.

heres a test - did you notice poor tracking on your g500 (other than sensor placement related issues)? the naos 5000 sensor beats the pants off the g500

the DA Black Edition still has my vote though.

I did not notice any issues with the g500 but I am looking for extremely accurate mouse for me to get better at Counter-Strike. But if the 5000 has a better sensor than the g500 I don't think I will notice it. But I still feel like the grip on the 5000 will be better than the deathadder. I also don't notice any issue with the sensei on a cloth mousepad but I have not been able to play cs the way I could on the g500 so maybe its there and I just can't notice it.

and do you know the exact names of the senors on the different mice so I can research them.

The Naos and the G500 have the same sensor.
