I spent $1000 and im having problems!!! Please help i5 2500k - Page 7

Personally I'd get another 500GB drive. Speed it all good and well, until you run out of space. I have a 500gb and was surprised that it only took me a couple of months to fill. Now I'm actually looking at getting a 2TB hard drive.

But if you know you won't need the space for a year or so, I'd say get an SSD. But in the future they will of coarse be cheaper sooo..

I say get a HDD now, and a SSD in the future thumb.gif Hope that helps mate biggrin.gif

lol, I actually have no idea what raid is tongue.gif I've heard it alot, but isn't it basically making the drives run faster? If so, and you have enough speed I'd say go for it, get another SSD. Can't hurt can it.

MY recommendation is not to run Raid 0 on SSDs, if you are using a fast drive like the Crucial M4, there really is no point in Raid 0 those drives, as you already have plenty of drives and you are just increasing the probability of either of those drives crashing, causing the entire system to crash. Plus, if you run Raid 0, you lose TRIM support which is an important feature in SSDs.

I say get a fast SSD, you Agility 3 is good enough. Then just add storage to it.

what raid would you recommend .... 0+1 for redundancy maybe ?

and raid is another way for you to store files across an array of hard drives

No need for raid imo.

The only Raid I will ever see myself using is Raid 5. But it needs a dedicated Raid card IIRC.

Are your data important? If so, then RAID 1 is nice for good backup. Though it sucks to hav half the storage you pay for.

Raid 0, if speed is all you care about. And dont mind risking your data. Though really, if you hav your programs installed on your SSD and only storage on your HDD, you dont need Raid 0.

No point RAID'ing SSDs, real world performance won't be that noticeable from a single SSD (there was an article on anandtech somewhere). Just get another HDD.
