There is no bickering and arguing. We're making sure the OCN community is not being fed misinformation about a budget ssd "outperforming" a top tier ssd.

You have the same problem I do Rayleyne. I still don't trust my max iops for my OS so I've been using it for a Steam drive.

Now I've purchased an Intel 520 180gb with Intel validated firmware for my OS and Steam together. The day I ordered the 520 was the day I had Skyrim "crash" on me several times. It would basically freeze up and not respond to Windows. Since moving Steam to the 520, I've not had Skyrim crash a single time.

As Anand said, the Sandforce stock firmware seems to have issues with constant switching between idle and load during gaming.

It just all of a sudden went... LOL UNREPSONSIVE, Yeah my updated firmware appears to have fixed that issue for now.

I mean for my first SSD it wasn't bad, it really did open me up to what i was missing as i am currently looking for a PCIE ssd for my desktop, I know they are expensive, but i really want to move everything onto a single drive and leave important things on tried and proven Traditional Hdds

Actually, I was wrong. You can go back. I remember reading that you couldn't on here somewhere. But I just checked for myself on the OCZ forums and you can. That's good to know.

I'm actually thinking of grabbing one of these drives..

A guy at work is selling one for $55 and it's the SATA III version (which at first I didn't even know they made SATA II and a SATA III version of the same drive...)

You guys think it's worth grabbing for that price?

They don't. The Agility 2 is a few years old and it's Sata II. The Agility 3 is about a year old and it's Sata III.

Ah yeah I guess I'm a newb... I searched for Agility 3 60gb on newegg and it brought both the Agility 2 and Agility 3 up....

So is $55 for the Agility 3 a good deal then?

First it would Every now and then maybe once a day freeze the whole system for about 10 seconds, No read or writes could be made, Makes wow kinda antsy when it can't access it's own data.
Now, It locks up entirely, And it's been 3-6 months since i got it, (Sep 2nd last year), SSDlife shows my SSD at 2Terabytes read 1 TErabyte written 100% health 223 power on count, There are no bluescreens to view, the system locks up and has to be hard reset. PRoblem goes away when i boot from a mechanical drive (750GB seagate 5400rpm OH SO SLOW) And forget the SSD is there at all....
Idea's, Suggestions anything? (No, A hammer cannot be suggested)

My ssd does the same thing. On boot only, it will lock up the PC for about 10secs- 3 mins. It varies but that is the only issue with my SSD.

Just like this generation, the c300 reads faster than both the Agility and Vertex 2 but falls behind in writes.
Too bad reads make up 80% of the normal desktop workload.
Truth tellers are just that. Truth tellers. thumb.gif

The Vertex 2 beats the C300 in OS load time, gaming and multi-media/multitasking, or 90% of what people use their PC for, in every review I seen before I made my purchase.
Who cares about isolated tests, I want real world performance and the C300 loses in all of the important categories.

Say and post whatever you want to make yourself feel better about your purchase. thumb.gif
Its also faster in RAID setups.

In real world the C300 wins...I don't understand what you are saying...

For load time the C300 64GB was known for having the fastest boot time, app loading, game loading, etc.

Apparently you did not understand that post in full context. Sorry you did not.

compuman has only Marvell SATA 3 ports on his mobo, they have a limited speed of under ~400MB/s total, even with 2 drives and restricted random speeds as well due to the PCIe 1x lane it uses and crappy drivers. The Intel SATA 3Gb/s controller is superior, especially in RAID to the Marvell. The Intel controller basically allows you to double performance with RAID, the Marvell does not.

Here is the C300 in RAID 0 on the SATA 3Gb/s ports: http://www.overclock.net/t/818169/marvell-vs-ich10r-vs-highpoint-640-single-raid

On SATA 6Gb/s ports: http://www.overclock.net/t/1179518/seans-ssd-buyers-guide-information-thread/80#post_15985687

And here is the Vertex 2 in RAID 0: http://www.overclock.net/t/858638/2x-60gb-ocz-vertex-2-raid-0-fast-and-fourius
