External Hard Drive to TV?

Thread Starter
Hello,

I am very likely about to purchase myself a 'My Passport Essential SE 1TB' hard drive. I need it to store a lot of videos so I can plug it onto my USB port on my 50" TV. If there is a better drive out there for roughly same price with more capacity, you're welcome to suggest them my way. I need one with no power cable though for portability use. Which leads me to my main question:

Can I use that hard drive with my TV? Will the TV be able to provide enough power for it to run? Pen drives work fine with the TV.

Info:
TV: LG 50PZ250T
HDD: My Passport Essential SE 1TB
Live in UK

Questions in bold.

Thanks in advance OCers!

Any USB hard drive should work on your TV if your TV supports USB. From there it's all about the format you download to your drive and ensuring your TV can play it. In my case however, I plug the drive into my DVD player and run it from there. Also your TV won't have any problems providing enough power. You can look at another 1tb portable hard drive as well as a few other options if you need more ideas.

Good luck!
