Removing the Anti Glare coating on U2711 - Page 3

Are you sure that the polarization layer cracked? From the look of those photos (which I suppose might be misleading) it looks similar to thin film interference patterns that you get if you have water between layers- the different colours reflecting where water has pooled. If this was the case, removing the anti-glare coating allowed water to enter the panel when you later cleaned it- in which case the fix would be to dry it out e.g. storing it with rice, leaving it somewhere warm and dry?

I took the film off of my oldish (~5 years old) LG monitor, and have no had this happen. The only problem I had was that I damaged the polarizer a little in one spot, leading to a diagonal line about 1/8" long. Luckily it's on the very edge of the screen.

Hi...

the patterns you see on the monitor might not be cracks... it might just be Glue Residue.. like some other people have reported...

you can clean the rest off using water or soapy water ... warm water ... and a simple cloth.

The surface you are cleaning is glass-like material like on some phones -- it doesnt get destroyed that easy... so please try cleaning before you decomission the monitor thumb.gif

Hi guys, I have an LG IPS225, this monitor have the horrible AG coating that cause a cristalized texture on the screen. I have bought it 3 days ago, and I am hating this effect, I am thinking to remove the coating, but I have fear, I never do something similar, and there are some reports of fails in the polarizer after doing this. There is an consensus of how to remove the AG coating without damaging the monitor?

Could be better try to return the monitor back to the store and buy another? In the price zone I can, IPS225 is the only IPS monitor, so if I return the monitor, I will buy an TN display...

I'm trying to ignore this worst "effect", but it's impossible, earlier or later I see that mad.gif

Can you remove anti-glare coatings on ALL monitors that have it using this method? I'd love to try it out with my 22" Westinghouse TN paneled monitor.

OP: Sorry to hear about your bad luck.

Sorry for sorta necro'ing this thread. But i have a dell u2711 monitor and I'm not really bothered by the AG but i was considering doing a triple setup in a vertical configuration.

What would be the best method for removing the screen from the panel and keeping everything secured?

Thanks!
