What's up with my speeds?

Thread Starter
So I pay for 25mb/s from my isp and I get this from speedtest
135

But when I download an actual file the speed never goes above 3mb/s. I have tried numerous download locations and it never goes above that.

Is this normal?
It depends where you download from, usually they limit the download speed for free users.

Its the same for anywhere even steam doesn't go above 3mb/s for me.

Yea I know about powerboost but it still seems like me speeds are low being that I am only getting about 1/10 of what I am supposedly paying for

lol i wish we could get 25 MB/s on cable but alas you are looking at Mb/s which is totally different from MB/s

^Huge differences I mean huge....
Usually to figure out your MB/s which is the unit of data that you are referring to you would use the formula
Mbps x 0.125MB/s(which is the conversion rate) = your upload speed in MB
so in your case it would be: 1.5Mbps x (0.125MB/s) = .1875 x 1024(conversion to KB/s) = 192.75KB/s
192.75KB/s should be your rated speed so you are getting a bit more than rated.
source: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Mbps+to+MB%2Fs

so if we do the math

27.62 Mb/s x .0125MB/s = 3.45 MB/s
Small wonder.

speed test measures in bits and your download is measured in bytes. your speed is normal

27.62Mb = 3.4525MB

You connection speed is infinitely faster then mine and a LOT of ppls... If I had that I wouldnt complain, unless it was EXPENSIVE.
