im going to make you have your 1000th post biggrin.gif

do you have USB?
if so it is recommended you run FreeNAS of a bootable USB thumb drive.. a rule of thumb is 1GB RAM / 1TB HDD space

for some more in depth links have a look at the NAS Essentials Thread linked in my sig.. its still a work in progress but from the links should give you all the information you need smile.gif

this would work well, the most important factor is that you need atleast 6GB of RAM if you want to take advantage of you awsome ZFS (Zettabyte File System) thumb.gif

you can do it with 1GB of ram as i mention, but Tarun's build for $300 will build you a nice beastly NAS server and have a look at ZFS, it is well worth taking advantage of but not needed.. So if your happy working on what equipment you have you can still build yourself a system for 1TB storage smile.gif

@Tarun, he has an older rig with 1GB RAM that he is wanting to do something with, that where the 1GB RAM comes from smile.gif
