I'm currently running 7970's in Xfire with a Phenom X4 965 BE @ 3.8 in Eyefinity Landscape (5760 x 1080) and the only bottle neck I experienced due to the CPU is 3dmark 2011, the last 2 tests that involve the CPU. This lowered my score to 10K (graphics was 15.5K).
This processor is just fine for gaming. I played Metro 2033 yesterday all maxed on DX11, full AA, Full ANI, (on one screen, mouse issues with eyefinity) and FPS never dropped below 75. I could run the processor at 4ghz on stock cooling but lowered it down to 3.8 to be on the safe side, and stock voltage I believe. (1.375v)

you do have plan on buying a better cooler, right? anyway, congrats on your gpus.

Hey all I am running a AMD Phenom II x4 965 BE 3.4 GHZ, with a 560TI And I am having low fps in TERA (avg 29, a lot less in fights), and Issues in Deus Ex : HR as well as metro 2033 (just couldnt cut it with DX11) . I heard that I need to OC to 3.6 or higher for my CPU to communicate with my GPU correctly. Is this rumor true, can anyone provide any insight in general, if not with regards to the rumor? I would really appreciate it.

Check CPU usage in task manager. If it is maxing out your core(s), it's bottlenecking. Even so many games will benefit from a decent overclock if you have the means to do it.

Well atleast in metro2033 the problem is not your cpu, its just that your gpu isnt strong enough to max it (hint, disable 4xmsaa and advanced dof and leave everything else maxed @dx11).

BTW I have played metro with both phenom II x6 @2,8ghz and 3,5ghz and i5 2500k @ 3,3ghz and 4,5ghz, performance with GTX560ti was pretty much the same with both cpus.

Thanks for getting back to me guys. Thats good to know, thanks for filling me in on your experiences. Really though, i thought 560ti would be able to do better than ~15-30 fps I am kinda sad now frown.gif.

Mind if i list my build and you can throw upgrade suggestions at me? I would really appreciate some insight.

BUILD:
PSU 500W
CPU AMD Phenom II x4 BE 965 3.4gHZ (not OC)
GPU Nvidia 5600TI
Mobo: MSI 870-G45 (MS-7599) 2.0
RAM: 8gig DDR3

All in an antec 500 with no additional cooling. Standard HDD 1TB 7200 RPM sata.

Thoughts? And thanks again all.
