keep your setup, overclock your cpu after buying the cooler and a ssd 120~128GB, changing motherboard is not a good idea in upgrade unless it is broken

If your motherboard has heatsinks on the mofsats it should be atleast good for a moderate overclock. Either overclock your gpu (memory helps equel if not more then gpu) or pick up a second for crossfire. Thing is if ou crossfire you preity much have to overclock the cpu, or it will bottle neck. A second gpu, hyper 212 evo, and an ssd (you wont regret it trust me, it makes the system just generaly much more responive and faster).

^ That also depends on the use of high or low quality components.  While the 970A-D3 uses high quality FETs, it is still a 4+1 phase system.  On AMD's most power-hungry and VRM-intensive processor ever (the FX-81XX), it will not nearly be as efficient to overclock the processor without having to deal with a LOT of board heat.  I usually recommend 6+2 to 8+2 phase for FX-8XXX handling.

Also get this in place of the 212 EVO

i suggest . . .

- sell your gpu and grab 7950 or70. getting another 6950 to xfire might need another psu.
- get a ssd (min 128Gb)
- keep mobo (x16X4) unless you plan on xfire (x16x8 or x16x16), then psu issue will come up again

here's someone who uses two powerful gpus with the same chip. Note that he replaced his mobo to the sabertooth.

If I get another Mobo with a higher power phase, will that require a higher watt PSU? I have a 650W currently.

I like the 7950 idea. I definitely don't want Kepler because I'm not an Nvidia. Was very much considering it. Where would be a good place to sell it and at about how much should I sell for? Also, are there any specific requirements for the 7950 that I should be aware of? Is it compatible with the mobo's or does it require another kind?
With the SSD, I really want one but found them way too expensive. I really don't want to purchase an SSD due to price. But if it really makes a difference I will get one.
If I get an SSD, would partitioning my old drive negate my Win 7 install? I only have one MS Windows 7 Home Premium key and I was wondering if it would be an issue using it on a new SSD.
These are meant to be stupid questions. I just want to cover all of my bases before actually putting the money out.

I have overclocked my GPU. I have it set at 950/1320 (about 1.149V). In GPU_Z, it shows that the GPU has been clocked higher, however I haven't noticed a significant difference in performance. Heh, if I go any highe than those settings, my drivers crash when they hit high loads in about 10 seconds.

I uselly overclock the gpus ram not the chip, memorys usely the limiting factor anyway

I used this guide and MSI Afterburner to OC my GPU. The only this guide didn't say and that I had to figure out on my own was upping Core Voltage. Definitely made a difference in the stability test. But as I said, the drivers were crashing when I went higher than 1.149V and past 950/1320.

Do you know how to OC a GPU properly? I just modified the MSI Afterburner settings and I started shifting the tabs (carefully). Is there a better, safer method?

I'll just let everyone in general know this:

I have $600 to spend.

What should I get?
